Tragedy at Ahmedabad Medical College – Plane Hits Hostel, 5 Dead, Dozens Injured During Lunch Hour

Ahmedabad | June 12, 2025:
A devastating tragedy unfolded in Ahmedabad when a part of a crashing aircraft hit the hostel building of B.J. Medical College, right during lunch hour. Over 150 students were reportedly inside the mess when the aircraft debris slammed into the structure.

The Crash During Lunch

Eyewitnesses described a loud explosion and sudden collapse of walls and ceilings. In this horrifying event, at least 5 medical students lost their lives, and 40+ others were injured, many of them critically. Emergency responders quickly shifted the victims to Civil Hospital nearby.

Hostel & Mess Area Severely Damaged

The aircraft part hit the section of the hostel where junior resident doctors and undergraduate students reside. The impact caused massive structural damage, and in many cases, identification of victims has become difficult due to severe trauma.

Students in Shock, Survivors Speak

Medical students are still in deep shock and trauma. One student, Dr. Ayush, said many of his friends are undergoing critical treatment. Another, Dr. Dhruvit, stated that the crash occurred right during peak lunch time, and many students were trapped inside the mess.

Medical Associations React

Senior figures from FAIMA (All India Medical Association), including Dr. Rohan Krishnan, have condemned the incident and demanded better safety protocols for student hostels near operational air routes. Emergency teams and medical authorities are working round-the-clock for rescue and support.
