Udgam Portal RBI : If you or a family member has a bank account that has been closed or inactive for more than 10 years, there’s no need to worry. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has launched a new portal called UDGAM (Unclaimed Deposits – Gateway to Access Information), providing significant relief to such account holders. Through this platform, anyone can access and claim information related to their or their family’s inactive accounts.
RBI’s Objective
The RBI’s Depositor Education and Awareness Fund (DEA Fund) holds deposits that have been lying in bank accounts for 10 years or more and have not been transacted. Now, the RBI wants people to gain access to this information and easily recover it.
How to get your money back?
The RBI has simplified the process. You can check your balance by following a few simple steps:
- First, visit the UDGAM portal – [https://udgam.rbi.org.in]
- Enter your name, bank name, and required details on the portal.
- If your account is registered with the DEA Fund, the system will display the information.
- Next, visit your bank branch.
- Submit your KYC documents, such as your Aadhaar card, PAN card, voter ID, passport, or driving license.
- After verification, you will receive your deposit back, along with interest.
Special camps to run until December
The RBI has also announced that special camps will be held in all banks across the country between October and December 2025 to provide information and accept claims related to unclaimed deposits.
Why is this initiative important?
There are millions of bank accounts in the country that have been lying dormant for years, holding billions of rupees unused. This move by the RBI is not only important in increasing transparency but also provides a golden opportunity for ordinary people to recover their forgotten deposits.
Now, if you have deposits lying in an old bank account, simply log in to the UDGAM portal and get your hard-earned money back.–
