Major Crackdown by Rajasthan Excise Department: Zero Tolerance Against Illicit Liquor, Over 5.5 Lakh Liters of ‘Wash’ Destroyed, 916 Arrested

Jaipur: In a massive state-wide campaign to curb the illegal manufacturing, storage, transportation, and sale of illicit liquor, the Rajasthan Excise Department has launched an intensive enforcement drive. Under the direct instructions of Excise Commissioner Mr. Namit Mehta, effective measures including blockades, intensive patrolling, and targeted raids are being carried out across all districts.

According to official data released by the department, the special month-long drive conducted from May 1 to May 30, 2026, has led to the registration of 2,026 cases and the arrest of 916 individuals involved in illegal liquor operations.

Massive Blow to Liquor Mafia: In a major enforcement success aimed at dismantling the production network, the excise preventive squads raided multiple brewing hotbeds and destroyed 5,57,174 liters of ‘wash’ (the raw base material used to manufacture illicit liquor) on the spot.

93 Vehicles Impounded in Smuggling Net

To choke the supply chain and transportation of illegal liquor, tight blockades were set up on major transit routes. A total of 93 vehicles used for smuggling were confiscated during the drive:

  • Heavy Vehicles (Trucks/Containers): 15
  • Light Four-Wheelers (Cars/Jeeps): 12
  • Three-Wheelers (Auto-rickshaws): 1
  • Two-Wheelers (Motorcycles/Scooters): 65

Strict Enforcement of the ‘Zero Tolerance’ Policy

Excise Commissioner Mr. Namit Mehta reiterated that the department is functioning under a strict ‘zero tolerance’ policy against illegal liquor syndicates. All Additional Excise Commissioner Zones, Deputy Excise Commissioners, District Excise Officers, Excise Inspectors, and the Excise Preventive Force have been deployed on the ground to ensure round-the-clock vigilance, intensive patrolling, and swift raid execution.
