Social media influencer Saniya Bharadwaj has spoken out for the first time regarding an alleged viral video controversy that has been falsely associated with her name across the internet over the past few days. Releasing a video message (reel) on Instagram, she made it clear that she will not bow down to such misleading claims and online harassment. Bharadwaj confirmed that legal proceedings have been initiated to unmask the real culprits responsible for this malicious act.

In her powerful message, Saniya offered courage to all women and girls who fall prey to digital harassment or cybercrimes. She appealed to victims that instead of panicking or breaking down in such difficult situations, they must place their trust in the country’s legal system and cyber cells. The current incident is reportedly linked to Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh and involves certain students, sparking a fresh debate on internet safety.

Changing Behavior of Loved Ones and Identifying Real Relationships

During her address, Saniya Bharadwaj also shed light on her personal experiences and the intense social pressure that follows such incidents. She explained that when someone suddenly becomes the center of an online controversy, it is not just the trolling from strangers that is distressing, but the changed attitudes of close friends and relatives that hurt the most.

According to her, after the video surfaced, a close friend and some relatives distanced themselves from her. However, during this turbulent time, there were also people who stood by her with unwavering support. Saniya noted that bad times ultimately teach a person how to distinguish between genuine relationships and superficial ones.

Parallels with the Payal Gaming and Preeti Paswan Cases

This is not the first instance of content creators being targeted on the internet. Saniya’s situation draws strong parallels to the highly publicized case of popular gaming creator Payal Dhare (Payal Gaming) from December 2025. At that time, a 19-minute fake video was circulated under Payal’s name, which police and forensic investigations later confirmed to be an AI-generated deepfake. The Maharashtra Cyber Police subsequently arrested an accused in January 2026. Similarly, Bhojpuri dancer Preeti Paswan also recently had to come forward to clarify a similar clip controversy.

Digital experts emphasize that with the help of artificial intelligence and advanced editing tools, malicious actors can easily create deceptive videos that look completely authentic at first glance. Unfortunately, celebrities and social media influencers are often the primary targets of these tools.

Rising Internet Threats and Strict Cyber Laws

Under Indian cyber security laws, sharing or forwarding private pictures, videos, or morphed (tampered) content of any individual without their consent is a severe and non-bailable offense.

  • Section 67A of the IT Act: Publishing or transmitting explicit material electronically can lead to up to 5 years in prison and a fine of up to ₹10 lakh for the first offense.
  • Section 77 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS): This law addresses voyeurism and carries a provision of up to 3 years of imprisonment.
  • Section 66D of the IT Act: Using computer resources for cheating by personation (including deepfakes and morphing) is punishable by up to 3 years in jail.

Cyber experts have also issued warnings to everyday users, cautioning that links circulating on the internet under the guise of “leaked videos” are often malware traps. Clicking on these unverified links puts users at severe risk of having their personal data and banking information stolen by cyber fraudsters.

Conclusion: Saniya Bharadwaj’s firm stance delivers a crucial message regarding digital safety and social media responsibility. Rather than blindly believing every piece of viral content on the internet, it is essential to verify its authenticity. Victims of such cybercrimes must not blame themselves; instead, like Saniya, they should fearlessly take the legal route to ensure that cybercriminals are brought to justice.
