Hindaun City (Karauli): Prioritizing the social environment and public welfare in their residential area, women from the Jatav community have launched a strong protest against a local liquor shop. Demanding its immediate relocation away from the populated zone, the women commenced a peaceful sit-in (dharna) right in front of the shop at 9:30 AM today. They have firmly stated that if the administration fails to take swift and positive action regarding their legitimate demand, the agitation will be significantly intensified.
Anger Mounts as Administration Ignores Memorandum
The protesting women stated that they had raised this serious issue just a day earlier by submitting a memorandum to the District Collector. The delegation was led by Hariom Thekedar, the Youth President of the ‘District Jatav Samaj Sudhar Samiti 360 Village’. Through the memorandum, they had urged the administration to find a peaceful resolution in a timely manner and had given a clear warning of a protest if their demands were ignored. The women alleged that the administration did not take their warning seriously, leaving them with no choice but to stage a sit-in outside the liquor shop today.
Ultimatum to the Administration: Families Will Hit the Streets if Demands Remain Unmet
The agitating women have issued a stern ultimatum to the administration, warning them not to take their peaceful demonstration lightly. They cautioned that if no concrete and positive decision is taken on their demands today, the protest could take a fierce turn. Making a major announcement, the women declared that if the issue is not resolved by tomorrow, they will be joined by their children and the men of the Jatav community in large numbers to escalate the struggle. They emphasized that the local administration would be held entirely responsible for any resulting consequences.
Appeal for Public Interest and Social Harmony
Intellectuals of the community and the protesters strongly believe that the presence of a liquor shop in a densely populated residential area directly disrupts the social fabric. It creates a constant fear of deteriorating law and order and frequent disturbances in the neighborhood. Community members are urging the district administration and the Excise Department to intervene immediately before the situation worsens. They demand that appropriate action be taken, keeping public interest paramount. A large number of women from the community remained steadfast at the protest site, pressing for their demands.
