CM Bhajanlal Sharma’s Big Gift to State Employees: 2-Year Relaxation in Promotions, 149 New Secretariat Posts Approved

JAIPUR: In a significant move aimed at employee welfare and boosting administrative efficiency, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has announced a two-year relaxation in the service period required for departmental promotions. Fulfilling a key promise from the State Budget 2026-27, the government has also given the green light for the creation of 149 new official posts in the State Secretariat, opening up fresh government job opportunities for the youth.

• Major Relief in Promotions: Government employees will now receive a two-year relaxation in the mandatory experience or service period required to qualify for their next rank.
• Exclusion Criteria: Personnel who have already availed of this specific relaxation during the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) years 2023-24, 2024-25, and 2025-26 will be excluded from this new benefit.
• 149 New Secretariat Posts: Official approval has been granted to create 15 Assistant Secretary, 67 Assistant Section Officer, and 67 LDC Grade-I positions.
• Employment Boost: This administrative expansion will secure faster career progression for current staff while paving the way for upcoming recruitment drives for unemployed youth.

Amendments in Service Rules on the Horizon

Demonstrating a strong commitment to the welfare and career growth of the state workforce, the Rajasthan government is actively implementing its recent budgetary announcements. According to the Chief Minister’s Office, various departmental service rules will soon undergo necessary amendments to legally integrate this two-year relaxation in promotion eligibility. This crucial decision will bring massive relief to thousands of government employees who have been waiting for their promotions but were falling slightly short of the required service duration.

Enhancing Operational Efficiency in the Secretariat

Alongside easing promotion norms, the state government remains highly focused on strengthening its core administrative framework. To ensure the swift disposal of public files, better governance, and enhanced operational efficiency at the State Secretariat, CM Sharma has sanctioned the creation of several new gazetted and non-gazetted positions.

The newly approved bureaucratic structure includes the creation of 15 dedicated posts for Assistant Secretaries. Furthermore, to streamline the daily clerical workload and administrative tasks, 67 posts for Assistant Section Officers and 67 posts for Clerks Grade-I (LDC) have been officially authorized.
