Jaipur, Rajasthan:

The third convocation ceremony of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Law University, Jaipur, was held on Wednesday in a highly dignified atmosphere. During the event, Governor Shri Haribhau Bagde, Union Minister of Law and Justice (Independent Charge) Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, and Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Premchand Bairwa awarded medals and degrees to meritorious students.

Key Addresses and Messages

Addressing the ceremony, Governor Shri Haribhau Bagde described legal education as a discipline directly linked to society. He called upon the students to utilize their legal knowledge for the welfare of the needy, the oppressed, and the marginalized sections of society.

  • Constitutional Values: The Governor reiterated Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s message that service to the nation is paramount. He stated, “We are Indians first and foremost, followed by any class, caste, or community.”
  • Respect for the Constitution: The Governor cautioned students against the tradition of using abusive language in the name of dissent, terming it anti-constitutional and advising students to be mindful and responsible in their speech.

Focus on Judicial Reforms

Union Law Minister Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal highlighted the multifaceted personality of Dr. Ambedkar—a jurist, economist, psychologist, and author. He noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, efforts are underway to transition laws from being “punishment-centric” to “justice-centric” through the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. He suggested that the university should organize a lecture series on the various dimensions of Dr. Ambedkar’s personality to help the younger generation understand his comprehensive intellectual legacy.

Developed India and Education

Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Higher Education Dr. Premchand Bairwa emphasized that legal education is the most critical pillar in fulfilling the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India). He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting world-class education in Rajasthan.

Digital Initiatives and Achievements

A highlight of the ceremony was a modern digital initiative: Governor Shri Bagde launched the degrees for over 25,000 students live into their ‘DigiLocker’ accounts with the click of a button. Earlier, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Nishtha Jaswal presented a detailed report on the university’s academic progress and achievements in her welcome address.
