Incident at LoC Fencing Site Sparks Outrage

On June 12, 2025, around 11:45 AM, Colonel Ankush Chaudhary, who was overseeing a border fencing project along the Line of Control (LoC), visited the office of Assistant Defence Estate Officer (ADEO) Triyam Singh to get key documents signed for project clearance.

Reportedly, the ADEO refused to sign the documents and, during the heated exchange, physically assaulted Colonel Chaudhary. A video of the altercation quickly spread on social media, triggering outrage and widespread support for the colonel.

Strong Response from Soldiers

In the aftermath, soldiers from the unit openly condemned the official’s actions. A soldier was heard stating, “For us, the Colonel is next to God. If anyone raises a hand on him, it’s like lighting fire to a volcano.” The statement reflects deep military discipline and the emotional bond troops share with their commanding officers.

Retired Army officers and veterans also expressed concern over the deteriorating civil-military cooperation, especially during sensitive strategic projects like LoC fencing.

Allegations of Bureaucratic Obstruction

Insiders allege that some officials in the Defence Estates Department routinely delay military projects unless bribes or “favors” are offered. This incident has reignited debate over corruption and red-tapism that hamper national security initiatives.

The LoC fencing project, meant to enhance border protection, is seen as crucial amidst rising tensions and infiltration attempts.
