Jaipur / Udaipur : In a major anti-corruption operation, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a Station House Officer (SHO) and a constable from Mandwa police station for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹8 lakh. The action was carried out by the ACB’s intelligence unit based in Udaipur.
Bribe Demand in NDPS Case
According to officials, SHO Nirmal Kumar Khatri and constable Bhallarām Patel had allegedly demanded money to avoid naming four individuals as accused in a case registered under the NDPS Act. The complainants reported that the police officials initially sought ₹20 lakh, which later translated to ₹5 lakh per person.
Deal Finalised at ₹8 Lakh
During verification, the ACB found substance in the complaint. After negotiations, the deal was reportedly settled at ₹8 lakh. This led the bureau to plan a trap operation.
Caught Red-Handed
The ACB team laid a trap and apprehended both accused while they were accepting the bribe amount. The sum included ₹1 lakh in genuine currency and ₹7 lakh in dummy notes, totaling ₹8 lakh.
Operation Led by Senior Officials
The operation was conducted under the supervision of DIG Dr. Rameshwar Singh, with Inspector Dr. Sonu Shekhawat leading the team on the ground. ACB Director General Govind Gupta confirmed the arrests and stated that further investigation is underway.
