A tragic incident occurred in Talegaon, Pune, where an old iron footbridge collapsed into the Indrayani River during heavy monsoon rains. The bridge, located near Kundmala, was crowded with visitors when it gave way.

According to reports, four people lost their lives, including two who were found under the debris and two who died during treatment. At least 32 individuals were injured, with several in critical condition. Authorities fear that 15 to 20 people may have been swept away in the river’s strong current.

Rescue operations were immediately launched involving NDRF, CRPF, local police, and fire brigades. Over 35 people have been rescued so far. Search teams are using boats, divers, and machinery to clear debris and locate the missing.

The Maharashtra government has announced a compensation of ₹5 lakh for the families of the deceased. Initial investigations suggest that the old structure was unable to withstand the pressure of overcrowding and strong river currents.
