In an aggressive push to fortify the state’s financial framework for comprehensive regional development and the seamless execution of public welfare initiatives, the Government of Rajasthan has intensified its revenue collection protocols. Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma evaluated the performance indicators of various revenue-generating departments during a high-level review meeting held at the Chief Minister’s Residence on Sunday, May 17, 2026. During the session, the Chief Minister made it clear that a stringent ‘Zero Tolerance’ policy will be enforced against tax evasion and revenue leakages, ordering punitive legal action against willful defaulters.

To ensure that the state safely hits its assigned revenue collection benchmarks for the Fiscal Year 2026-27, the Chief Minister directed all administrative wings to establish seamless inter-departmental coordination, formulate realistic action plans, and aggressively deploy modern data technologies and innovations.

Strict Operational Directives Issued to Primary Revenue Departments

To accelerate collection machinery and clear long-pending fiscal litigations, the Chief Minister assigned specific operational mandates to key departments:

  • Commercial Taxes Department: Ordered an immediate, rigorous review of all pending audit files. The department must develop advanced risk-assessment parameters and modern scrutiny matrices to identify, flag, and suppress tax evasion patterns at the primary transaction stage.
  • Mines & Petroleum Department: Instructed to enforce zero-tolerance parameters against illegal mining operations and the unauthorized transport of minerals. To bring absolute transparency to logistics tracking, the department was told to accelerate the installation of GPS tracking hardware across all mining transport fleets and initiate time-bound public auctions for defunct or closed mines to unlock dormant revenue.
  • Transport and Excise Departments: The Transport Department has been tasked with launching aggressive, targeted recovery drives to clear outstanding motor vehicle tax arrears from chronic defaulters. Concurrently, the Excise Department was directed to expedite the collection of historical revenue dues and optimize its intelligence network by incentivizing informants to curb the smuggling of illicit liquor.
  • Registration & Stamps and Revenue Departments: Directed to heavily promote and simplify the online e-registration framework to systematically reduce the backlog of pending property and land cases across DIG (Deputy Inspector General) offices. Furthermore, the Revenue Department must ensure strict, non-negotiable legal action against illegal land encroachments.

To ensure strict administrative compliance, the Chief Minister officially authorized the Chief Minister’s Office and the Chief Secretary to maintain continuous oversight and active monthly monitoring of all department-wise revenue collection metrics.

State Registers a Robust 15.71% Growth in April Revenue Collections

According to validated financial ledgers presented by senior administrative secretaries during the review conference, the opening month of the current fiscal year has yielded exceptionally encouraging data for Rajasthan. The state generated a total revenue of ₹11,235 crore in April 2026 alone. This collection metric marks a significant 15.71% growth rate when compared dynamically against the revenue numbers recorded during the identical fiscal window in April 2025.

Key Administrative Attendees: The high-level review conclave was attended by Chief Secretary V. Srinivas, Additional Chief Secretary (to CM) Alok Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary (Mines & Petroleum) Aparna Arora, Principal Secretary (Finance) Vaibhav Galriya, and Principal Secretary (Revenue) T. Ravikant, alongside commissioners and secretaries representing the state’s commercial tax, excise, transport, and registration departments.
