In a shocking incident on Sunday morning, transgender woman Soumya was attacked by a group of men while on her way to offer traditional blessings in Padla village, located in the Todabhim area of Karauli district. The attack took place around 9:00 AM.
Attacked with Sticks and Rods, Vehicle Damaged
Soumya reported that she was en route in her vehicle when around 10 men in a Scorpio SUV stopped her and launched a violent attack. According to her, the assailants said nothing and began beating her vehicle with sticks and rods, also striking her on the arms and legs.
She added that the attackers damaged her vehicle severely. Soumya further revealed that she had been receiving threats for the past month, and suspects that the attack was orchestrated by men from Sikandra, allegedly at the behest of another transgender individual from Bandikui.
Police Registered Case, Investigation Underway
As soon as the incident was reported, Todabhim Police arrived at the scene and took Soumya to the police station in their vehicle. A formal FIR has been registered, and authorities have launched a search for the accused.
Police officials stated that they are examining CCTV footage and mobile location data to identify the culprits and assured that arrests would be made soon.

This incident raises serious concerns about the safety and dignity of transgender individuals in society. Violence against marginalized communities not only violates basic human rights but also reflects the deep-rooted prejudices still present in various parts of the country.
