According to eyewitnesses, on January 27, 2026, three people—1. Mohd. Akram, son of Mohd. Mustaq, 2. Mohd. Fayyaz, son of Mohd. Siraj, and 3. Mohd. Musarraf, son of Mohd. Akbar—suddenly attacked him, causing panic in the area. Srivastava sustained serious injuries in the attack. He was taken for treatment with the help of local residents.

Chandrakant Srivastava is not only an active journalist but also runs a private school in the area and has been prominently raising issues of social concern. He has long been vocal against anti-people activities and has fearlessly advocated for the interests of the common people. The exact reasons behind the incident are not yet clear, but initially, the attack is believed to be linked to his impartial and fearless journalism.

Local residents say that some anti-social elements were angered by Srivastava’s continuous exposure of illegal activities, corruption, and social irregularities. Upon receiving news of the incident, outrage spread among journalist organizations, social activists, and local citizens.

All have strongly condemned the attack and demanded the swift arrest and strict action against the culprits. They have also appealed to the administration to take concrete steps to ensure the safety of journalists.
