Jaipur, June 6, 2026: In a decisive move to empower street vendors and small-scale self-employed citizens, the Rajasthan State Government has stepped up its efforts to streamline the ‘PM SVANidhi’ (Prime Minister Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi) scheme. On Saturday, Chief Secretary Shri V. Srinivas chaired a crucial high-level review meeting at the State Secretariat to address the slow progress and backlog of pending loan applications under the scheme.

During the session, a detailed, point-by-point evaluation was conducted regarding the current status of received applications, the rate of institutional loan sanctions, real-time disbursement progress, and the specific bottlenecks causing delays in unresolved cases.

By the Numbers: Progress Report Since January 2026

Nodal officers presented updated administrative and banking data to the Chief Secretary during the review. According to the official briefing, the scheme has seen significant traction since early 2026:

Total Applications Received: 34,893 (Post January 27, 2026)

Applications Successfully Sanctioned: 14,169

Loans Disbursed to Beneficiaries: 12,129

Pending Applications (Under Review): 2,616

The meeting’s primary focus was directed toward the 2,616 stranded applications. Officials and banking representatives engaged in an in-depth discussion to identify documentation flaws, technical glitches, and banking-level delays to formulate an immediate resolution strategy for these pending files.

Chief Secretary’s Strict Mandate: ‘Zero Tolerance for Delays’

Addressing the assembly of administrative officers and bank representatives, Chief Secretary V. Srinivas issued strict directives to eliminate red tape. He mandated that eligible beneficiaries must receive the scheme’s financial benefits within a strict, time-bound framework, ensuring the immediate clearance of pending cases in both the sanctioning and disbursement pipelines.

Reiterating the core vision of the initiative, the Chief Secretary stated:

“The fundamental objective of the PM SVANidhi scheme is to provide highly accessible and affordable financial assistance to street vendors, hawkers, and hardworking citizens engaged in micro-enterprises. To achieve this, the Local Self Government department, urban local bodies, and all participating banking institutions must work with absolute synergy and sensitivity. We must ensure no eligible individual is deprived of this essential support.”

PM SVANidhi: A Long-Term Vision (2020 to 2030)

The ‘PM SVANidhi’ scheme was originally launched by the Central Government in 2020 during the nationwide COVID-19 lockdowns to provide collateral-free working capital loans, helping informal traders revive their disrupted livelihoods.

Given its immense grassroots success, the program has been strategically extended. Officials highlighted that Phase 1 of the scheme successfully concluded in December 2025 after meeting its designated targets. Recognizing the continued need for micro-credit and the push for digital transactions among street vendors, the implementation of this vital welfare scheme has now been extended until the year 2030.

Key Officials in Attendance

The critical administrative review saw participation from key stakeholders across the state government and the banking sector. Shri Ravi Jain, Secretary of the Local Self Government (LSG) Department, presented the department’s progress report and future action plan. He was joined by senior department officials, representatives of the State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC), and authorized representatives from various major public and private sector banks to ensure on-the-spot troubleshooting of practical disbursement issues.

Bhilwara, Rajasthan:

The district-level phase of the “Vande Ganga Water Conservation Jan Abhiyan-2026” was inaugurated at the historic Triveni Sangam in Bhilwara. The event was held under the distinguished presence of Deputy Chief Minister and District In-charge Minister, Shri Premchand Bairwa. Acting on the call of Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma, this state-wide campaign is running from May 25 to June 5, 2026, with the primary goal of transforming water conservation and harvesting into a robust mass movement.

Traditional Inauguration and Environmental Focus

The district-level program commenced with Vedic chanting, traditional water worship (Jal Pujan), a ceremonial Kalash Yatra, and a ritualistic Jalabhishek. Following these observances, Deputy CM Bairwa participated in a Peepal Pujan and led a tree plantation drive, underscoring the government’s commitment to environmental preservation.

Water: The Essence of Culture and Life

In his address, Deputy CM Bairwa highlighted Rajasthan’s historical and cultural relationship with nature:

Cultural Legacy: He noted that Rajasthan is not just a land of warriors, but a region that has nurtured a deep-seated culture of environmental protection. For centuries, the people of this land have valued every drop of water, constructing step-wells (bawris), ponds, and wells to ensure water security for future generations.

Life Symbolism: He emphasized that in Indian culture, water is not merely a resource but a symbol of life, culture, and nature itself.

Campaign Objectives and Strategy

The campaign aims to tackle the global challenge of water scarcity through active public participation. Over the next 10 days, various state government departments will execute several key activities:

Pre-Monsoon Preparedness: Promoting rainwater harvesting and constructing new water structures.

Restoration: Cleaning and reviving traditional water bodies and sources.

Green Rajasthan: Accelerating the “Haryalo Rajasthan” tree plantation mega-campaign.

Deputy CM Bairwa administered a pledge to the gathered citizens, urging them to prioritize water harvesting and conservation. He reaffirmed that the state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, is continuously working to conserve rivers and improve the groundwater table, calling upon every citizen to treat water conservation as a personal responsibility.

Bhajan Lal Sharma visited Churada village in the tribal region of Banswara district on Thursday morning, where he interacted directly with villagers and reviewed local issues during a public outreach program. After holding a night chaupal in the village, the Chief Minister walked through the narrow village lanes, speaking with residents and understanding their concerns firsthand.

During the interaction, the Chief Minister said the Rajasthan Government is working to fulfill the vision of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s Antyodaya philosophy by ensuring that development and welfare schemes reach the last person in society. He described Gram Vikas Chaupal as an effective platform for direct communication and problem-solving at the grassroots level.

Chaupal Held Under a Peepal Tree

While touring the village, the Chief Minister held a chaupal under a Peepal tree where villagers shared concerns related to water supply, irrigation, and local infrastructure. Taking immediate note of these issues, he instructed district officials to work on the construction of an anicut on the Hiran River and improve drinking water sources in the area.

The Chief Minister also visited a Maa Bari Center, interacted with children, and distributed chocolates among them. He encouraged students to focus on education and work towards building a brighter future. He also appealed to villagers to keep young people away from substance abuse and ensure proper education for children.

Immediate Action on Financial Irregularity Complaint

During the program, complaints regarding alleged financial irregularities against Kushalgarh Block Chief Medical Officer Dr. Girish Bhabhor were brought to the Chief Minister’s attention. Taking the matter seriously, he directed officials to initiate immediate action. Following the instructions, the medical department placed Dr. Bhabhor under APO status without delay.

Focus on Water Conservation and Modern Farming

The Chief Minister emphasized that water has no alternative and every drop must be used wisely. He urged farmers to adopt micro-irrigation, rainwater harvesting, pond construction, and diversified farming techniques to improve productivity and income.

He also encouraged farmers to combine agriculture with animal husbandry to strengthen their financial condition. Referring to successful community-led water conservation efforts in the Dungarpur region, he called upon villagers to turn water conservation into a public movement.

Development Projects Approved on the Spot

During a tea discussion with villagers, the Chief Minister approved several local development projects immediately. These included ₹16.20 lakh for the construction of a Maa Bari Center in Thummath village, ₹20 lakh for a single-phase tubewell at Thummath crossroads, and ₹7 lakh for interlocking and beautification work at the Mama Baleshwar Dayal temple complex in Churada village.

He also directed officials to construct two additional classrooms in the government school and establish a milk collection center near the village.

In another humanitarian gesture, the Chief Minister responded to a request from a family whose child is suffering from cerebral palsy. He instructed officials to transfer assistant engineer Hemant Kumar Kalal to Banswara considering the family’s situation.

Earlier, the Chief Minister paid floral tribute to the statue of Saint Mama Baleshwar Dayal. The event was attended by Babulal Kharadi, Hemant Meena, and Gautam Kumar Dak along with local representatives and villagers.

In a significant move to bolster local manufacturing and empower entrepreneurs, the Government of Rajasthan, under the vision of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, has introduced two major amendments to the One District One Product (ODOP) Policy-2024. Aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of local industries, the Department of Industries and Commerce has officially notified these changes.

1. Margin Money Grant Now Available for Business Expansion

Previously, the ODOP policy benefits were limited strictly to new industrial units. Responding to the state budget announcements for 2026-27, the government has now extended the Margin Money Grant to existing enterprises looking to scale up their operations.

Micro Enterprises: Eligible for a margin money grant of up to ₹20 Lakh.

Small Enterprises: Eligible for a margin money grant of up to ₹15 Lakh.

The government has allocated an additional budget of ₹15 Crore to support this initiative.

2. Freedom to Choose: Private Institutes for Technical Upgradation

Innovation is now more accessible than ever. Previously, entrepreneurs were restricted to government institutions for technical upgrades. Under the updated policy, ODOP units can now seek technical upgradation through private institutions as well, with a subsidy grant of up to ₹5 Lakh. This shift allows businesses to adopt cutting-edge technology and modern machinery, ultimately leading to higher quality production and lower energy consumption.

Streamlining the Path to Success

Industries and Commerce Commissioner Shri Nilabh Saxena highlighted that the application and approval process has been completely digitized to ensure transparency and efficiency. With the authority to approve applications now decentralized to District General Managers, the processing time has seen a significant reduction. Since February 1, 2026, over 350 applications have already been processed swiftly.

Furthermore, the state is investing ₹18.19 Crore across five districts to establish Common Facility Centers (CFCs), testing laboratories, and advanced storage facilities. These efforts are designed to ensure that local products not only thrive domestically but also meet stringent international quality standards.

JAIPUR: Residents of Jaipur are soon set to receive a new and affordable option in the public transport sector. State Minister for Cooperatives (Independent Charge) Shri Gautam Kumar Dak has announced that India’s first taxi service based on a cooperative model—‘Bharat Taxi’—will soon be launched in Jaipur. This service aims not only to provide safe travel for the general public but also to create a new chapter of economic prosperity for the drivers (known as Saarthis).

Unique Features of ‘Bharat Taxi’

In a dialogue program held at the Apex Bank auditorium, the Minister of Cooperatives explained that this service is entirely different from private taxi aggregator companies. Its key features include:

Drivers as Owners: The most significant aspect of this model is that there is no external corporate owner; the drivers (Saarthis) themselves are the actual owners of the service.

Transparency and Security: ‘Bharat Taxi’ is built on four core principles: ownership, a safety shield, respect, and equal distribution of dividends.

No Arbitrary Practices: In this model, no driver’s account will be deactivated without a hearing. Furthermore, drivers will be completely freed from hidden charges and the heavy subscription fees often imposed by private companies.

Proposed Launch in the First Week of June

Following successful operations in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Lucknow, and Chandigarh, the launch of this service is proposed for Jaipur in the first week of June 2026. Minister Shri Dak urged the drivers to join this indigenous cooperative initiative in large numbers, which will effectively curb the monopolistic practices of private companies.

Enthusiasm Among Drivers

During the dialogue, drivers present noted that while working with private companies, they often face exploitation, with a large portion of their earnings taken as commission. The drivers expressed confidence that through ‘Bharat Taxi’, they would establish Rajasthan as a ‘role model’ in this sector.

The event was attended by Special Assistant Dr. Suraj Singh Negi, Additional Registrar Shri Bhomaram, Apex Bank Managing Director Shri Ranjeet Singh Chundawat, and Bharat Taxi City Head (Jaipur) Shri Abhishek Charan, among other officials.
