To assess the progress of the ‘Vande Ganga Jal Sanrakshan Jan Abhiyan’ (Vande Ganga Water Conservation Public Campaign), an initiative launched to address water scarcity and enhance groundwater levels across the state, a special media field visit was organized on Wednesday. During this tour, media representatives closely inspected various water conservation structures prepared in several areas, including Gram Panchayat Bhavli in the Karauli district.

Concrete Steps Toward Water Conservation

Dharmendra Kumar Meena, Assistant Director of the Information and Public Relations Department, stated that under the state government’s ‘Vande Ganga’ campaign, the Panchayati Raj Department and other related agencies have worked extensively to strengthen water infrastructure in the district. The primary objectives of these structures include:

Addressing Drinking Water Issues: Ensuring the availability of water at the local level.

Water Recharge: Improving the groundwater table.

Water Conservation: Harvesting rainwater to ensure it is stored for future needs.

Involvement of Officials and Media

During the field visit, media personnel directly inspected the status of ponds, check-dams, and other water storage structures. The tour was attended by Ghasiram Meena, Superintending Engineer of the Watershed Department, along with other departmental officials and district media representatives. The officials provided detailed insights to the media regarding the technical aspects of the work being carried out under the campaign and the long-term benefits expected for the region.

This field visit serves as evidence of the administration’s commitment to implementing water conservation efforts on the ground. Such initiatives are expected to not only increase water security in rural areas but also ensure the availability of water for agriculture and domestic use.

Sapotra (Karauli) : A particularly tragic and heartbreaking news has emerged from the Sapotra subdivision of Karauli district in Rajasthan. While a motor was being pulled out of an old well in the Amargarh area, the soil suddenly caved in. In this horrific accident, two local youths were buried alive under the debris. After much effort, they were extricated, but upon reaching the hospital, doctors declared them dead. The incident has caused an uproar in the entire area and an atmosphere of mourning in the village.

According to information, the incident occurred at a well in Dikolya, located on the Amargarh-Moti road. The well is said to be quite old. At the time of the accident, the motor used to draw water from the well was being removed, when, without any warning, the topsoil of the well collapsed.

After approximately two and a half hours of hard work and considerable presence of mind, the villagers managed to pull the two youths out of the debris. However, by then, both were in critical condition.

Doctors declared them dead

Immediately after being safely pulled from the debris, both injured young men were rushed to the nearby Sapotra Hospital. A team of doctors immediately examined them, but unfortunately, both had already stopped breathing. Doctors declared them dead.

Karauli, Rajasthan : Former Karauli Municipal Council Chairperson Dr. Rajrani Sharma submitted a memorandum to Karauli Superintendent of Police Lokesh Sonwal on Friday, demanding an impartial investigation into the case involving Municipal Council employee Rahul Sain.

In the memorandum, Dr. Sharma stated that an attempt was being made to harass her family as part of a political conspiracy. She alleged that some individuals associated with the Municipal Council were conspiring to tarnish her family’s image.

The former Chairperson stated that Municipal Council employee Rahul Sain had previously been accused of corruption, and efforts were made to stop these activities. This angered her and led to a case being filed against him at the Kotwali police station.

Dr. Sharma stated that this case was fabricated due to political pressure and personal animosity. She alleged that the action was taken under the influence of former Chairperson representative Aminuddin, and that an attempt was made to defame her family through social media.

The memorandum demanded that the police administration conduct an impartial investigation into the entire matter, uncover the truth, and take action against the culprits.

Karauli, Rajasthan : The village development camp organized in the Amargarh tehsil under the Sapotra sub-division, within the jurisdiction of the land records inspector, is writing a new chapter of prosperity. During the camp, soil health cards were distributed to farmers in the area through the coordinated efforts of the agriculture department and the local administration.

These cards will prove crucial in reducing farming costs and increasing yields in the future. A farmer who received the card said that previously, they used fertilizers in their fields without any scientific basis, which not only increased costs but also affected the fertility of the land. The soil health card is not just a piece of paper, but a report card for the farmer’s land.

It will tell us which nutrients the soil needs, thus helping us avoid unnecessary expenses. This effort to bring government schemes directly to the farmers’ fields through the village development camp is commendable.

Hindaun City, Karauli : A delegation of villagers from Sikroda Meena and Sikroda Jatt villages in Hindaun City tehsil of Karauli district met with the Technical DRM of Kota Railway Division, Lalit Kumar, on Tuesday to demand a railway underpass.

The villagers apprised him of the need for a proposed railway underpass in Sikroda Meena and Sikroda Jatt, as well as the construction of a culvert on the link road to the Government Senior Secondary School in Sikroda Meena. The villagers explained that the railway overbridge and fencing would severely impact transportation, education, agriculture, and social life in the area.

According to the villagers, the construction of the railway overbridge near the Government Senior Secondary School in Sikroda Meena will result in the closure of the current level crossing. This will force approximately 150 to 200 students from 15 to 20 small hamlets, including Jahanabad, Khedi Ghatam, and Khedi Sheesh, to travel an additional 4 to 5 kilometers. About 80 percent of these students are girls, raising concerns about a potential decrease in student enrollment in the upcoming academic year.

Similarly, young children attending the Government Primary School in Sikroda Jatt are forced to cross the railway tracks due to the railway fencing, posing a constant risk of accidents. The villagers stated that approximately 500 to 600 bighas of agricultural land in both villages are located across the railway tracks. Without an underpass, farmers will face significant difficulties in reaching their fields, leading to increased transportation costs, higher labor wages, and forcing women to travel long distances to collect fodder for their livestock. The daily interaction between the villages in the area will also be disrupted.

Read Also : India will purchase goods worth $500 billion from the US and stop buying oil from Russia.

The villagers also pointed out that the connecting road between Sikroda Meena and Sikroda Jatt, which originates from Bargama Road, is being affected by the overbridge construction. They suggested that if a culvert is provided on the same connecting road beneath the overbridge, the road would remain safe and convenient for the students.

The villagers also highlighted the impact on social and religious traditions. They explained that in the future, carrying a deceased person’s body to the cremation ground across the tracks would require traveling an additional 5 to 6 kilometers, which would be extremely difficult.

Technical DRM Lalit Kumar listened carefully to the villagers’ problems and assured them of a solution after conducting a fresh survey.During this time, Manoj Sikroda (Tribal Congress Block President, Hindaun Rural), Vijay Singh, Narendra Patel, Sanjay Khad Beej Bhandar, Bhim Singh Khedi Ghatam, Sahdev Sahra, Mohan Mistri, and other villagers were present.

Hindaun City, Karauli: The road leading to the government primary school in Panda ka Pura, a hamlet of the Jatav community located near Kyarda Khurd in the Hindaun subdivision, is currently in a state of severe disrepair. Due to the rains, the road has completely turned into a muddy and waterlogged mess, forcing young children to risk their lives every day to get to school.

Children going to and from school are often seen walking barefoot, wading through mud and dirty water up to their knees. This poses a constant risk of them slipping, getting injured, and falling ill. Parents say that due to the poor condition of the road, many children are unable to attend school regularly, which is affecting their studies.

Villagers said that this problem is not new, but so far, the administration and elected representatives have not provided any permanent solution. The pictures clearly show that there is neither a paved road nor any drainage system at the main entrance to the school.
