Location: Naurangabad, Karauli (Rajasthan)

A deeply distressing and concerning incident has come to light from the Karauli district of Rajasthan. A massive explosion occurred due to a domestic gas cylinder blast in Naurangabad village (Pin Code: 322220), falling under the Hindaun City tehsil. In this sudden blast, an underprivileged family’s house and their entire lifetime savings have been completely reduced to ashes.

Accident Occurred Immediately After Refill According to the official consumer documents verified from the spot, the LPG connection is registered under the name of Munni Bai Jatav (Wife of Shri Mahesh Chand), residing behind the Jain Temple in the Purani Basti locality of Naurangabad. The consumer identification number is 7008842745, and the connection belongs to the local distributor, ‘Shree Mahaveer Ji Indane Gramin Vitrak’.

The cash memo and booking records explicitly indicate that the cylinder was refilled and delivered on June 1, 2026. Tragically, within less than 24 hours of receiving the refilled cylinder, a catastrophic leak led to a massive fire and subsequent explosion, tearing the heavy steel cylinder apart from the center.

Severe Structural Damage and Total Loss of Property The intensity of the explosion was so severe that the blast radius caused the stone slabs comprising the roof of the house to shatter and collapse entirely. Visual evidence from the site confirms that the double-burner gas stove was completely incinerated. Furthermore, the family’s entire household stock—including food grains, clothing, storage trunks, ceiling fans, utensils, and bedding—has been entirely burnt down.

While the family members fortunately managed to evacuate the premises just in time to avoid fatalities, the household has been left entirely destitute with no roof over their heads. The women and children of the family remain in a state of profound psychological shock.

Urgent Appeal to the Administration and IndianOil Left completely homeless under harsh weather conditions, the aggrieved family has urgently appealed to the Karauli District Administration, the District Collector, local legislative representatives, and the senior management of Indane Gas (Indian Oil Corporation Limited) for immediate intervention.

Local residents and village elders have strongly demanded that emergency shelter, blankets, and dry rations be provided to Munni Bai’s family on a priority basis. Furthermore, a strict technical investigation must be conducted by the gas company regarding the potentially faulty or leaking cylinder to expedite the insurance claim and provide fair compensation to the family.

Disclaimer: This news article is compiled based on primary source materials including verified video footage of the damage, official LPG passbook entries, distributor receipts, and statements from local residents. The primary objective of this report is to facilitate urgent administrative relief and financial aid for the affected family. Relevant authorities are urged to conduct a thorough evaluation for official action.

To assess the progress of the ‘Vande Ganga Jal Sanrakshan Jan Abhiyan’ (Vande Ganga Water Conservation Public Campaign), an initiative launched to address water scarcity and enhance groundwater levels across the state, a special media field visit was organized on Wednesday. During this tour, media representatives closely inspected various water conservation structures prepared in several areas, including Gram Panchayat Bhavli in the Karauli district.

Concrete Steps Toward Water Conservation

Dharmendra Kumar Meena, Assistant Director of the Information and Public Relations Department, stated that under the state government’s ‘Vande Ganga’ campaign, the Panchayati Raj Department and other related agencies have worked extensively to strengthen water infrastructure in the district. The primary objectives of these structures include:

Addressing Drinking Water Issues: Ensuring the availability of water at the local level.

Water Recharge: Improving the groundwater table.

Water Conservation: Harvesting rainwater to ensure it is stored for future needs.

Involvement of Officials and Media

During the field visit, media personnel directly inspected the status of ponds, check-dams, and other water storage structures. The tour was attended by Ghasiram Meena, Superintending Engineer of the Watershed Department, along with other departmental officials and district media representatives. The officials provided detailed insights to the media regarding the technical aspects of the work being carried out under the campaign and the long-term benefits expected for the region.

This field visit serves as evidence of the administration’s commitment to implementing water conservation efforts on the ground. Such initiatives are expected to not only increase water security in rural areas but also ensure the availability of water for agriculture and domestic use.

In preparation for the upcoming Census 2027, intensive inspections were conducted across Karauli district to monitor the progress of the first phase, which includes “House Listing and Housing Census.” The oversight was carried out by officials from the Census Directorate and the district administration to ensure the accuracy and transparency of the data collection process.

Data Collection Across 2,762 Blocks

Enumerators and supervisors have been deployed across 2,762 census blocks in the district. Their primary responsibilities include preparing layout maps, marking house numbers, and collecting detailed information from families. The survey covers 33 critical parameters, including:

Availability of basic household amenities.

Total number of family members.

Number of married couples.

Materials used in house construction.

All gathered data is being recorded online through the official HLO App.

Official Inspection Details

Senior administrative officials conducted field inspections to verify the work being performed:

Friday Inspections: Deputy District Census Officer Mukesh Kumar inspected field operations in Karauli block (Kalyani, Kailadevi) and Mandrayal block (Langra, Garhi ka Gaon, and Batda).

Saturday Inspections: The review continued in Shri Mahavirji block (Chandan Gaon, Kaudiyan) and Nadauti block (Kamla, Kamri City, and Bagor).

During these visits, Assistant Director Vishal Garg and District Coordinator Himanshu Goyal reviewed the field-level progress and provided necessary guidance to the enumerators.

Emphasis on Accountability and Precision

During the inspections, it was noted that in several locations, supervisors were not providing the necessary support to the enumerators. Addressing this, the officials issued strict instructions, mandating that all supervisors remain actively present in the field and perform their duties with full responsibility. The administration has emphasized that the census is a matter of national importance, and the work must be completed in a time-bound, transparent, and error-free manner.

A district-level public hearing (Jansunwai) and Vigilance Committee meeting was held at the Collectorate Auditorium under the chairmanship of District Collector Akshay Godara.

Taking a tough stand against negligence in resolving public grievances on the Rajasthan Sampark Portal, the District Collector ordered show-cause notices to be served to two senior block-level officials.

Accountability First: Action Against Errant Officials

District Collector Akshay Godara cracked down on negligence regarding the resolution of long-pending complaints. The officials who received show-cause notices for failing to address grievances on the Sampark Portal include:

Lakhan Lal Meena (Chief Block Education Officer – CBEO, Sapotra)

Brijlal Bairwa (Block Development Officer – BDO, Sapotra)

7-Day Deadline to Clear Long-Pending Grievances

Addressing the district and block-level officers, the Collector emphasized that citizens should not be forced to make unnecessary visits to government offices. He issued the following strict directives:

Strict Timeline: Grievances pending on the Rajasthan Sampark Portal for 90 to 180 days, as well as cases forwarded by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Divisional Office, and the Human Rights Commission, must be resolved within 7 days.

Focus on Quality Redressal: Officers were directed to improve the actual satisfaction level of the complainants rather than just disposing of files on paper.

Focus Departments: Officials from JVVNL (Electricity), PHED (Water Supply), DSO (Civil Supplies), and the Social Justice & Empowerment Department were specifically told to reduce their average response time and improve public satisfaction.

60 Grievances Received; Immediate Relief Rendered

The first phase of Census-2027 is progressing at full speed in the Karauli district of Rajasthan. The field work for house listing and housing census began on May 16 and is scheduled to continue until June 14, 2026. The administration is remaining fully vigilant to ensure that this crucial national duty is completed in a time-bound and error-free manner.

Intensive Field Monitoring

Deputy District Census Officer Mukesh Kumar recently conducted surprise inspections of the progress of census work in various areas, including Masalpur, Todabhim, Shri Mahaveerji, and Balghat. He issued instructions to enumerators and supervisors, emphasizing that no house, family, or individual should be left out during the work in their assigned areas.

During the inspection, the officials emphasized the following points:

Impartiality and Transparency: The census work must be carried out with complete transparency and responsibility.

Zero Error: No negligence or errors in data entry will be tolerated.

Continuous Supervision: Charge officers have been instructed to visit the field regularly and ensure the quality and confidentiality of the work.

Appeal for Public Cooperation

According to the administration, enumerators are going door-to-door across all districts to prepare house maps and perform the numbering of houses. Enumerators and supervisors are receiving full cooperation from the citizens. The administration has appealed to all residents to provide accurate information to the census officials, as this is a vital national undertaking.

District Coordinator Himanshu Goyal, District Census Cell team members Balkrishan Gupta and Ravi Balot, along with other concerned departmental officials, were present during the inspection.
