The recent visit to Lucknow by Rajendra Pal Gautam, a senior Congress leader and National Chairman of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) SC Department, has become a major topic of discussion in political circles. During this visit, he attempted to meet Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati, a move being interpreted as a potential signal for future opposition alliances.

An Alliance Effort or Merely a Courtesy Call?

Rajendra Pal Gautam, accompanied by Barabanki MP Tanuj Punia and other associates, reached Mayawati’s residence to attempt a meeting. Although she was unavailable at the time, Gautam has requested a formal appointment. Political observers believe that the Congress party is taking this step to unify “progressive” forces against powers like the Sangh-BJP. Gautam’s initiative is viewed as a well-calculated strategy by the Congress to build a stronger front by bringing marginalized political forces together.

Political Analysis and Dharmendra Kumar Jatav’s Perspective

Dharmendra Kumar Jatav, AICC National Coordinator and Incharge Spokesperson for the SC Department, offered a sharp critique of these developments. Expressing his views through social media, Jatav stated that this effort by Congress and Rajendra Pal Gautam reflects their “broad-minded vision.”

Jatav remarked, “In alliance politics, a sense of responsibility toward the common people is paramount, which the Congress has always prioritized.” However, Jatav questioned the BSP’s current electoral strategy, suggesting that Mayawati may no longer be concerned with Dalit participation in power. He alleged that over the last 15 years, Mayawati has sidelined the Dalit community from the electoral field, relegating them to the “spectator gallery,” which he claims has caused significant harm to the community.

Challenges in the Path of an Alliance

There is ongoing speculation in political corridors regarding the past, specifically when BSP supporters labeled the Congress as “anti-Dalit” during the SP-Congress alliance in Uttar Pradesh. It remains to be seen whether this new outreach by the Congress can heal those old wounds.

Mayawati’s busy schedule and her current political stance suggest that there is still significant uncertainty regarding the BSP’s role in any potential opposition coalition. Nevertheless, Rajendra Pal Gautam’s attempt clearly demonstrates that the Congress is intensifying its efforts to secure the Dalit vote bank in the upcoming elections.

A disturbing incident has emerged from the Pratapgarh district of Uttar Pradesh, causing significant unrest in the region. In Kaelidih village, under the jurisdiction of the Fatanpur police station, unidentified miscreants vandalized a statue of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, leaving the local community in a state of shock and anger.

The Incident

On Tuesday morning, villagers discovered that the statue of Dr. Ambedkar had been desecrated, with its head severed and thrown onto the ground. The news of the vandalism spread rapidly, sparking immediate outrage among the local population. Supporters of the Bhim Army and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) gathered at the scene, staging protests and demanding swift action against those responsible. Some local residents have also leveled serious allegations against the village head (Gram Pradhan), claiming involvement in the incident.

Swift Action by Police and Administration

Recognizing the potential for escalating tensions, Fatanpur Station House Officer (SHO) Manish Tripathi, along with a significant police force, arrived at the site immediately. The authorities engaged with the protesting villagers, assuring them that the matter would be treated with the utmost seriousness.

To restore order and address the community’s hurt sentiments, the local administration promptly arranged for a new statue. It was installed with full honors, and following a formal floral tribute, the situation began to return to normalcy.

Ongoing Investigation and Security Deployment

Police have stated that additional security forces have been deployed in the village to maintain peace and order. Investigations are currently underway to identify the culprits, and authorities are questioning local residents to gather leads. The administration has issued a firm statement, assuring the public that those responsible for the vandalism will face strict legal consequences.

A shocking incident of caste-based violence has emerged from the Morena district of Madhya Pradesh, sparking widespread outrage. A 40-year-old Dalit e-rickshaw driver was allegedly abducted by a group of influential locals, brutally assaulted, and paraded half-naked through a village wearing a garland of shoes. The police have registered a formal case and initiated a crackdown on the accused.

Abduction from the Highway and Inhuman Treatment

The incident occurred on Saturday evening when the victim, a resident of Jatawar village (identified as Mohanlal, name changed), was returning home after dropping off passengers. According to the victim’s statement, as he reached the Sikroda Canal near National Highway-44, his path was blocked by a tractor-trolley carrying nearly two dozen men.

The victim alleged that the men—identified as Dilip Gurjar, Bhura Gurjar, and Surendra Gurjar—dragged him out of his e-rickshaw and beat him with sticks and rods. He was then forcibly taken to Janakpur village, where he was stripped, forced to wear a garland of shoes, and paraded through the streets to humiliate him.

The Motive: Legal Pressure or Fare Dispute?

There are two conflicting narratives regarding the cause of this brutal assault:

The Victim’s Version: The laborer claims that he had filed an FIR against the accused following a dispute during Diwali last year. He alleges that the accused were constantly pressuring him to withdraw the case and agree to a compromise. When he refused, they orchestrated this attack to intimidate and silence him.

Police Preliminary Findings: Civil Line Police Station In-charge Udaybhan Singh Yadav stated that preliminary inquiries suggest the conflict might have started over an e-rickshaw fare. According to this version, a heated argument broke out when the laborer demanded payment from the passengers, leading to the assault. However, the police are actively investigating the “prior enmity” angle as well.

Police Action and Political Outcry

Acting on information provided by passengers who witnessed the abduction, the Civil Line Police reached the spot and rescued the laborer from the captivity of the accused. A case has been registered against five named individuals: Bhura Gurjar, Surendra Gurjar, Mahendra Gurjar, Dilip Gurjar, and Karua Gurjar.

While one accused has been arrested and sent to jail, a manhunt is underway to nab the remaining four.

The incident has triggered a political storm. Leaders and activists from the Bhim Army, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), and Azad Samaj Party gathered at the Civil Line Police Station, demanding the immediate arrest of all involved. They have warned the administration of a large-scale protest if justice is not served swiftly and impartially.

Conclusion

This incident has once again raised serious concerns regarding law and order and the safety of marginalized communities in the Chambal region. While the police assure a fair investigation, Dalit rights organizations remain on high alert, seeking stringent action against those who take the law into their own hands.

Disclaimer: This report is based on preliminary police statements and media accounts of the incident. The case is currently under investigation, and final facts will be established through the due process of the court.

The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has officially commenced its strategic preparations for the upcoming electoral cycle. During a state-level review meeting for the Punjab and Haryana units held on April 30, 2026, National President and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Ms. Mayawati, made it clear that the upcoming assembly elections are not merely a political contest but a pivotal moment for the ‘Ambedkarite Mission’.

Organizational Strengthening and Ground-Level Review

In the high-level meeting conducted in New Delhi, Ms. Mayawati conducted a detailed evaluation of the party’s grassroots activities. Key directives included:

Implementation of Directives: A thorough review was conducted regarding the progress of instructions issued during the All-India meeting on February 22, 2026.

Organizational Expansion: Areas where organizational work was found unsatisfactory were instructed to undergo immediate rectification.

Strengthening the Base: Emphasis was placed on bolstering the party’s financial and grassroots foundations to expand its mass support.

Punjab: An Electoral Tribute to Manyavar Shri Kanshi Ram Ji

Reviewing the political landscape of Punjab, Ms. Mayawati delivered a poignant message. She noted that as the birthplace of the party’s founder, Manyavar Shri Kanshi Ram Ji, success in Punjab holds special significance for the movement.

Target 2027: Achieving superior results in the Punjab Assembly elections, scheduled for early next year, is described as the ultimate tribute to the memory of Shri Kanshi Ram Ji.

Dedication and Hard Work: Workers were urged to labor with increased diligence to ensure that electoral success sends a strong message to opposing political parties.

Public Unrest and Government Accountability in Haryana and Punjab

The meeting included a sharp condemnation of the current administrative state and governance in both Punjab and Haryana. The BSP highlighted several critical issues:

Chaos and Corruption: The party pointed to widespread mismanagement, anarchy, corruption, and anti-farmer policies that have fueled public anger.

Democratic Response: Condemning attempts to suppress public dissent through government force, Ms. Mayawati advised the public to use the “democratic blow of the vote” to seek change.

Policy Gaps: The ruling governments were criticized for a significant disparity between their words and actions, which has severely impacted daily life for the common citizen.

‘Clean’ Politics: Distance from Criminal Elements

Reaffirming the BSP’s core principles, Ms. Mayawati advocated for a clean and ethical political environment.

Crime-Free Politics: There is no room for criminal elements within the party organization. Strict instructions were issued to keep such individuals away from the party in Punjab and Haryana, following the precedent set in Uttar Pradesh.

Empowering Workers: Clean, honest, and hardworking individuals dedicated to the Ambedkarite movement should be given the right opportunities to lead in the elections.

Conclusion

This review meeting signals that the BSP is ready to expand its influence beyond Uttar Pradesh into neighboring states. By centering the ‘Ambedkarite Mission’ and maintaining a strict distance from criminal elements, the party seeks to provide a new political direction in Punjab and Haryana. The focus now shifts to the ability of party workers to translate this momentum into electoral victories.

The struggle to grant women their rightful share in the democratic framework of India has been echoing through the corridors of Parliament for over three decades. While the passage of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam 2023 was hailed as a landmark achievement, the actual implementation of the law remains entangled in technical and constitutional complexities.

Against this backdrop, a special session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly was convened on April 30, 2026, reigniting the debate over gender representation in politics. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) President Mayawati has welcomed the move while highlighting the “painful delay” in transforming this bill into reality.

The Core of the Contention: Why the Delay?

The Women’s Reservation Bill aims to reserve 33% (one-third) of seats in the Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies for women. However, the implementation is legally tied to two major prerequisites:

Fresh Census: The completion of the nationwide census, which was delayed due to various factors.

Delimitation: The reorganization of constituency boundaries based on the new census data.

In early 2026, attempts to fast-track the constitutional amendment to ensure implementation before the 2029 General Elections faced hurdles in the Lok Sabha, where the required two-thirds majority remained elusive.

BSP Chief Mayawati’s Stance: “Justice Delayed is Justice Denied”

BSP Supremo Mayawati took to social media (X) to express her concerns, labeling the continued delay as “extremely sad, unfortunate, and deeply worrying.” Her position reflects a mix of support and a demand for deeper social inclusivity:

Support for the Special Session: The BSP officially welcomed the special session of the UP Assembly dedicated to this cause.

Quota Within Quota: Mayawati remains steadfast in her demand that the 33% reservation must include a sub-quota for SC, ST, and OBC women. She argues that without this, the benefit will not reach the most marginalized and oppressed sections of society.

Demand for 50%: Reflecting the actual population demographics, the BSP has historically advocated for increasing the reservation limit to 50%.

The Reality of Representation

Currently, women’s participation in Indian politics lags significantly behind global averages:

Lok Sabha: Representation of women MPs hovers around 14-15%.

State Assemblies: In many states, this figure drops below 10%.

Experts argue that increasing women’s presence in policy-making is not just about equity; it is essential for more sensitive and effective legislation regarding education, maternal health, safety, and economic empowerment.

Challenges and Political Deadlock

The road to 33% reservation faces three primary challenges:

The OBC Factor: Several regional parties insist on a separate quota for OBC women, leading to a lack of total political consensus.

Regional Concerns: Southern states have expressed anxiety that delimitation based on population might lead to a decrease in their political weightage compared to northern states.

Legislative Hurdles: Securing a supermajority in both houses of Parliament remains a significant hurdle for any ruling dispensation.

Conclusion

The Women’s Reservation Bill is more than just a seat-sharing arrangement; it is a vital step toward making Indian democracy more inclusive and balanced. The 30-year wait has been long enough. While the support from parties like the BSP is a positive sign, the focus must shift from political rhetoric to constitutional action. Implementing this before the 2029 elections would be a true testament to India’s commitment to “Nari Shakti” (Women Power).

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) national president Mayawati has clearly stated that the press note claiming the expulsion of Shri Mewalal Gautam, Shri Munkad Ali, and Shri Naushad Ali from the party by the Bulandshahr district unit is completely fake and forged. What is the Matter?

A letter is circulating widely on social media and WhatsApp, purportedly issued by the BSP Bulandshahr District Office (signed by Ravindra Pradhan, District President) dated 25 April 2026.

The letter claims that the three leaders have been expelled from the party due to anti-party activities and indiscipline.

It carries the BSP logo, official-looking letterhead, signature, and date, which misled many people and media outlets into believing it was genuine.

Mayawati’s Official Statement (25 April 2026):Mayawati posted on her official X (Twitter) account and clarified:

“…The press note issued on the fake letterhead of BSP District President, Bulandshahr, expelling three senior leaders — Shri Mewalal Gautam, Shri Munkad Ali, and Shri Naushad Ali — is entirely fake and fabricated. Therefore, no attention should be paid to it. Media should also refrain from such baseless news and exercise necessary caution against such fake news in future…”

She mentioned that some other expulsions (like that of Dharmveer Singh Ashok from Bulandshahr and Jay Prakash Singh from Ghaziabad) may be genuine, but the specific note regarding these three leaders is completely forged.Fact-Check:

Circulating images of the letter are already marked with big red “FAKE NEWS” and “FACT-CHECKED” stamps.

Mayawati has advised everyone to verify such claims only through official BSP channels and not to believe unverified documents.

— Mayawati (@Mayawati) April 25, 2026

Important Advice:

In the current political environment, fake news and forged party letters are being circulated rapidly, especially on letterheads with party logos.

Always cross-check important political news directly from Mayawati’s official X handle (@Mayawati) or the official BSP district/state office.

This incident once again highlights how easily misinformation spreads during sensitive political times. People and media should remain vigilant and verify before sharing or publishing such content.Would you like me to make this news article longer, shorter, or add any specific angle (like social media impact, political background, etc.)?

Sources: Mayawati’s official X post dated 25 April 2026 and the viral documents.
