The Government of Rajasthan has commenced the new financial year 2026-27 on a strong fiscal note. During a review meeting of the Finance (Revenue) Department held at the Government Secretariat, chaired by Chief Secretary Mr. V. Srinivas, the state’s economic performance was detailed. According to the data, the state earned a total revenue of ₹11,235 crore in April 2026 alone, marking a significant annual growth of 15.71% compared to the same month last year.
Performance Across Key Revenue Sectors
The meeting highlighted impressive growth figures across various tax categories, signaling a robust and recovering economy:
- GST Collection: Goods and Services Tax (GST) contributed ₹4,749 crore in April 2026, a record-breaking annual increase of 29.68% compared to April 2025.
- Value Added Tax (VAT): Revenue from VAT stood at ₹2,008 crore, an increase of 11.85% over the previous year.
- Registration and Stamps: This sector collected ₹1,121 crore, registering a massive jump of 31.68% compared to April 2025.
Curbing Tax Evasion with AI and Technology
The Chief Secretary emphasized that the state is leveraging cutting-edge technology to make the revenue collection process more transparent, accountable, and effective.
- AI-Driven Tax Intelligence System: An advanced overarching AI-driven system is being deployed for the real-time identification of fraudulent taxpayers.
- Accountability: Revenue officers have been directed to work with seamless inter-departmental coordination to ensure transparency in every step of the collection process.
Future Outlook and Strategic Goals
For the financial year 2026-27, the state has set a total budget estimate of ₹1,91,103 crore. The Chief Secretary expressed confidence that the Excise Policy 2025 would further accelerate revenue growth. Furthermore, all departments have been strictly instructed to prioritize the recovery of outstanding revenue arrears.
The high-level meeting was attended by senior officials, including Additional Chief Secretary (Mines & Petroleum) Ms. Aparna Arora, Principal Secretary (Finance) Mr. Vaibhav Galriya, and Commercial Tax Commissioner Ms. Anandhi, among others.
