Rajasthan: CGD Entities Directed to Provide 43,000 DPNG Connections in 45 Days

Jaipur | May 14, 2026

The Government of Rajasthan has intensified its efforts to transform urban areas into LPG Free Zones. Chief Secretary Mr. V. Srinivas, while chairing the State-Level City Gas Distribution (CGD) Committee meeting at the Secretariat on Thursday, set a target for the 13 CGD entities in the state to issue 43,000 new Domestic Piped Natural Gas (DPNG) connections within the next 45 days.

Target: 1,000 Connections Per Day

The Chief Secretary issued strict directives to ensure that, on average, one thousand households are linked to the gas pipeline network every day until the end of June. Key strategies discussed in the meeting include:

  • Infrastructure Optimization: Areas where the pipeline infrastructure is already developed must be prioritized, and residents should be issued connections immediately.
  • Awareness Campaigns: Agencies are tasked with educating citizens about the 24/7 availability, safety, and cost-effectiveness of DPNG through social media and local outreach camps.
  • Skilled Manpower: Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) have been directed to provide a list of 5,000 trained plumbers to Rajasthan State Gas to expedite the installation process after a brief orientation.

Current Status in the State

The review meeting highlighted the current progress of natural gas distribution in Rajasthan:

  • CNG Stations: Currently, 490 CNG stations are operational across the state.
  • Industrial & Commercial: A total of 1,380 industrial and commercial units have been connected to the grid.
  • Domestic Connections: So far, 1.53 lakh (153,000) households in the state have transitioned to DPNG.

Moving Towards LPG Free Zones

Additional Chief Secretary (Mines and Petroleum), Ms. Aparna Arora, instructed agencies to identify specific clusters where 100% shifting is feasible. This will allow the government to formally declare those areas as ‘LPG Free Zones’ in accordance with Central Government guidelines.

Mr. Vinay Patni, Managing Director of RSGL, shared that specialized workshops for plumbers are being organized in Kota in coordination with ITIs to ensure both employment for youth and a steady supply of human resources for the agencies.

The meeting was attended by senior officials including ACS (Home) Mr. Bhaskar Sawant, ACS (Urban Development) Mr. Alok Gupta, and representatives from all 13 CGD entities.
