The complaint was lodged by the victim on April 5, 2025, alleging that she was being harassed by her in-laws for dowry since her marriage. Tapendra Singh had applied for anticipatory bail, but the court rejected his plea, after which he was arrested by the police.

Earlier, three other accused—Keren Singh, Moori Devi, and Ruby—had already been taken into custody. All four accused belong to Ward No. 15 of Rajakhera town. The police continue to investigate the case and are committed to ensuring justice for the victim.
