Meeting of Animal Cruelty Prevention Committee held, various issues discussed.

Nagaur, Rajasthan : A meeting of the District Animal Cruelty Prevention Committee was held in the Collectorate auditorium on Wednesday evening under the chairmanship of Additional District Collector Champalal Jinagar. Various topics related to animal protection, treatment, management, and prevention of animal cruelty were discussed in detail during the meeting.

During the meeting, action taken in compliance with the previous meeting held on October 30, 2025, was reviewed. Jinagar reviewed the progress of action taken under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act to prevent the use of unhealthy animals carrying excess loads in bullock carts, camel carts, and donkey carts.

In the meeting, the Additional District Collector directed to ensure adequate food and water for birds and to determine the working hours of draft animals in view of the summer season. The meeting also directed that stray cattle in major urban and rural areas be sent to cow shelters, cattle pens, and bull shelters, and that radium be applied to their horns.

Jinagar issued necessary instructions to the concerned officials regarding the registration of regularly operating meat shops in municipal council and municipal areas and the control of open meat sales. He directed everyone to ensure compliance with the guidelines issued by the Animal Welfare Board of India.

The meeting also discussed a proposal to purchase a computer set and a timekeeping clock for the SPCA office from the funds available in the account of the District Animal Cruelty Prevention Committee, Nagaur, along with various other issues.

Attendants of the meeting were Mahesh Kumar Meena, Joint Director of the Animal Husbandry Department, officials from the police, education, and other related departments, Padmashree Himtaram Bhabhu, and representatives of social service organizations.
