Udaipur/Jaipur | May 12, 2026

Directs Action Against Personnel Absent Without Permission

Excise Commissioner Mr. Namit Mehta emphasized that maintaining cleanliness and order at the workplace must be a moral duty for every officer and employee. During a visit to the department’s headquarters, he noted that piles of unorganized files and a lack of hygiene create an atmosphere of chaos, which is unacceptable and requires immediate rectification.

Strict Stance on Indiscipline

The Commissioner conducted a surprise inspection of various sections at the Excise Headquarters building in Udaipur on Tuesday. Key directives issued during the inspection include:

  • Action Against Absenteeism: He ordered immediate disciplinary action against employees found absent from their duties without prior authorization.
  • File Management: Instructions were given for the proper maintenance and storage of files. Bundles of old records are to be systematically moved to the record room.
  • Transparency & Identification: Every office room must clearly display the name and designation of the officer, along with the specific section name, outside the door.

Laboratory and Helpline Protocols

Mr. Mehta also reviewed technical and public-facing departments:

  1. Excise Laboratory: He directed that the stock of sample bottles received must be disposed of according to established legal procedures.
  2. Helpline Monitoring: A mandate was issued to provide a Daily Report of actions taken on complaints registered via the Excise Helpline to ensure a robust feedback mechanism.

Infrastructure Improvements

To improve the working environment and safety, the Commissioner ordered the systematic organization of internet and electrical wiring across all sections. He personally inspected several departments, including:

  • Hotel-Bar Section, IT, and Accounts.
  • Establishment Branch, PRO Room, and APAR Section.
  • Legal Advice, Recovery Section, and the Helpline Control Room.

Conclusion

This surprise inspection by the Excise Commissioner serves as a clear signal for improved departmental efficiency and accountability. By focusing on both administrative discipline and infrastructure, the department aims to accelerate the resolution of public grievances and streamline its internal operations.
