The Commissioner conducted a surprise inspection of various sections at the Excise Headquarters building in Udaipur on Tuesday. Key directives issued during the inspection include:

• Action Against Absenteeism: He ordered immediate disciplinary action against employees found absent from their duties without prior authorization.
• File Management: Instructions were given for the proper maintenance and storage of files. Bundles of old records are to be systematically moved to the record room.
• Transparency & Identification: Every office room must clearly display the name and designation of the officer, along with the specific section name, outside the door.

Laboratory and Helpline Protocols

Mr. Mehta also reviewed technical and public-facing departments:

1. Excise Laboratory: He directed that the stock of sample bottles received must be disposed of according to established legal procedures.
2. Helpline Monitoring: A mandate was issued to provide a Daily Report of actions taken on complaints registered via the Excise Helpline to ensure a robust feedback mechanism.
