Over 280,000 Liters of “Wash” Destroyed Across the State

Following the directives of Excise Commissioner Namit Mehta, a widespread enforcement campaign is currently underway across Rajasthan to curb the illegal production, storage, transportation, and sale of liquor. The campaign has seen intensive operations, including barricading, patrolling, and targeted raids, resulting in significant seizures and the destruction of raw materials.

Campaign Statistics (May 1–11, 2026)

In just the first 11 days of May, the Excise Department has adopted a “Zero Tolerance” policy, yielding the following results:

  • Cases Registered: 1,044 formal cases have been filed.
  • Arrests: 380 individuals involved in illegal activities have been taken into custody.
  • Wash Destroyed: 280,533 liters of “wash” (raw material used for fermentation) were recovered and destroyed on-site.
  • Vehicle Seizures: A total of 42 vehicles used for smuggling were seized, including 8 large vehicles, 2 light four-wheelers, and 32 two-wheelers.

Major Regional Highlights

  • Hanumangarh: Raids in Nohar, Sangria, and Hanumangarh led to the destruction of 5,100 liters of wash and 7 illegal furnaces.
  • Baran (Laxmipura): Authorities destroyed 11,000 liters of wash stored in drums and dismantled 23 furnaces.
  • Dholpur & Sirohi: In Dholpur, 5,000 liters of wash were destroyed. In Sirohi, 6,000 liters of wash hidden in 12 Sintex tanks along a riverbank were recovered and neutralized.
  • Jodhpur & Nagaur: Nine absconding criminals were arrested in Jodhpur, while Nagaur teams recovered illicit liquor and destroyed 200 liters of wash.
  • Dausa: Operations in Mahua and Lalsot resulted in the destruction of 9 furnaces and 6,300 liters of wash.

Administrative Vigilance

Under Commissioner Namit Mehta’s guidance, excise preventive teams are strictly monitoring inter-state smuggling and the illegal sale of liquor from neighboring states. All Zonal Additional Commissioners, District Excise Officers, and Inspectors have been instructed to maintain constant vigilance and conduct high-frequency patrolling in sensitive areas.
