Woman Killed in Jaipur-Delhi Expressway Truck Crash; Police Accused of Extortion

A tragic accident occurred early Saturday morning on the Jaipur-Delhi Expressway near Chandwaji, leading to the death of a 75-year-old woman and injuries to four others, including a police constable. The incident has sparked outrage after the victim’s family accused the police of extortion, claiming it led directly to the fatal crash.

Family Alleges Police Demanded ₹20,000

According to the victim’s daughter, the family truck—carrying about 20 relatives en route to Khatushyam Ji temple—was stopped by police on the pretext of overloading. The officers allegedly demanded ₹20,000. During this time, the victim, Premmati Kushwaha, stepped out of the truck and was fatally hit by another speeding truck from behind.

Police Suspended, Investigation Initiated

Following public protest and a three-hour highway blockade, four police personnel were relieved from duty and are under investigation. Additional SP Narayan Tiwari confirmed that the accused officers from the Chetak-2 patrol team would be suspended if found guilty.

Public Protest Blocks Highway

Enraged by the incident, locals and family members placed the body on the highway and blocked traffic, chanting slogans against the police. The blockade lasted from around 4:30 AM to 7:30 AM until senior police officials intervened.
