ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 : England’s experienced batsman Nat Sciver-Brunt showcased her batting prowess in the Women’s ODI World Cup on Saturday. Playing against Sri Lanka at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, she scored a powerful 117 runs, achieving a milestone. This was her fifth World Cup century, setting a record for the most World Cup centuries scored by any female player.

With this innings, Sciver-Brunt surpassed former England legend Janet Brittin, current coach Charlotte Edwards, and New Zealand’s experienced batsman Suzie Bates, who each have four World Cup centuries. Of these, only Suzie Bates is playing in this tournament and representing New Zealand.

Nat Sciver-Brunt’s achievement is not only a matter of pride for the England team but also reflects the ever-increasing level and competition in women’s cricket. How important this innings was in England’s victory will be revealed by the scorecard, but it has become a memorable moment for cricket lovers.

ICC Women Cricket World Cup 2025 : India defeated Pakistan by 88 runs in the sixth league match of the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, registering another crucial victory in the tournament. With this win, India maintained its unbeaten streak against Pakistan in ODI cricket, winning for the 12th consecutive time.

Pakistan won the toss and elected to bowl first, which proved costly. The Indian team scored 247 runs in the allotted 50 overs. In response, Pakistan were bowled out for just 159 runs in 43 overs.

Both India’s batsmen and bowlers performed brilliantly. While the batsmen led the team to a strong total, the bowlers bowled with discipline, preventing any Pakistani batsman from sustaining any chances.

This match once again showcased the strong form and confidence of the Indian women’s cricket team, while Pakistan desperately needs to improve its performance.

Harleen Deol top-scored for India with a crucial 46 in the sixth league match played on Sunday.

Indian innings falters after a good start

Indian openers Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal made a strong start, sharing a 48-run partnership for the first wicket. However, India suffered a series of setbacks after that.

Smriti scored 23 runs off 32 balls

Pratika Rawal was bowled after scoring 31 runs off 37 balls

After this, captain Harmanpreet Kaur also failed to make much of a mark, returning to the pavilion after scoring 19 runs.

Harleen and Jemimah’s Steady Innings

In the middle order, Harleen Deol provided stability to the team with a 65-ball 46. Jemimah Rodrigues played a crucial 32-run knock.

Sneh Rana added 20 runs.

Shree Charani managed only 1 run.

Pakistan’s Bowling and a Unique Break

Diana Baig and Sana Faisal performed brilliantly for Pakistan, taking two wickets each. Sadia Iqbal also bowled economically and took a crucial wicket.

An interesting incident occurred during the match when play was briefly halted due to an abundance of mosquitoes. A mosquito spray was used to provide relief to the players.

Indore, Women’s World Cup 2025 :The New Zealand women’s cricket team has suffered a major setback ahead of the ODI World Cup. Young spin all-rounder Flora Devonshire has been ruled out of the entire tournament due to injury. Devonshire suffered the injury during practice on the eve of the crucial match against South Africa on October 6.According to a Cricbuzz report, Devonshire has suffered a left hand injury, which could keep her out of action for 2-3 weeks. Due to this unfortunate situation, Devonshire’s ODI World Cup debut remained incomplete.

In her place, experienced fast bowler Hannah Rowe, who has previously represented New Zealand in 60 ODIs, has been included in the team. Although Rowe’s bowling style differs from Devonshire’s, she has considerable experience playing in subcontinental conditions, which could prove beneficial for the team.

Head coach Ben Sawyer lamented Devonshire’s absence, saying, “Flora worked hard to earn her place in the team, and it’s very unfortunate that she couldn’t seize this opportunity.”

He added, “We’re delighted to see an experienced player like Hannah back in the squad. She can strengthen the team with her versatility and experience.”

Big Challenge Ahead of the Team

The New Zealand women’s team suffered a defeat against Australia in their very first match of the tournament. This injury is another mental blow before facing a strong team like South Africa. Meanwhile, South Africa are also looking to bounce back from a crushing defeat against England, making this match even more exciting.Although Hannah Rowe has been included in the squad, she will be unavailable for selection for the match on October 6. Consequently, New Zealand will face South Africa without her services.

Match in Indore, prestige at stake

This crucial match between New Zealand and South Africa will be played in Indore, where both teams will be aiming to get their tournament campaigns back on track. A win in this match will not only improve the points table for both teams but will also boost their morale.

India Pakistan Women’s Cricket Match : The Indian men’s cricket team refused to shake hands with the Pakistani team during the Asia Cup in Dubai, and now the Indian women’s cricket team will follow suit. Harmanpreet Kaur and her team will not shake hands with the Pakistani players during the Women’s World Cup match in Colombo on October 5.

According to sources within the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the board will follow government policy. There will be no handshakes at the toss, no photoshoots with the match referee, and no interaction between the players of both teams at the end of the match.

Given this situation, the question now arises as to who will conduct the toss in Colombo. It is likely that this responsibility will be assigned to a former player or cricket expert from a neutral country. This atmosphere will be completely different from the 2022 Women’s ODI World Cup match, when the Indian team shared photos of love and support with Pakistan captain Bismah Maroof’s daughter.

With this, the Indian women’s team has made a strong start to their World Cup campaign. In a recent match, the Indian women’s team defeated Sri Lanka by 59 runs, setting a target of 270 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis Method. The Sri Lankans were bowled out for 211 in their allotted 47 overs.

The Indian women’s cricket team has yet to win the Women’s World Cup, and this time, under the leadership of Harmanpreet Kaur, the team faces the challenge of ending its title drought.
