Shweta Mahara was born on November 21, 1995, in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, into a middle-class Kumaoni Rajput family. Her father, Tanmay Mahara, and mother, Vinita Mahara, provided her with a simple and cultured upbringing. During her childhood, Shweta spent most of her time with her younger brother, Piyush Mahara, with whom she still shares a close bond.

Shweta completed her primary education at Takshashila Public School, Gangolihat (Pithoragarh). Despite being average in her studies, she was the life of every cultural event at school. After 12th grade, she moved to Delhi for higher education, where she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree from Delhi University and Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).

Beginnings of a Career in Dance

In July 2015, Shweta founded Geetanjali Divvy Dance Studio (GDD). There, she began teaching dance to children and youth. Her dance videos went viral on social media, establishing her recognition. She caught the attention of Bhojpuri industry producers, and this is where her fortunes took a turn.

Entry into the Bhojpuri Industry

2021 proved to be a turning point in Shweta Mahara’s career. That same year, she worked with Khesari Lal Yadav and Shilpi Raj in the superhit songs “Pardesiya” and “Lagelu Jahar”. Both songs went viral, and Shweta became the latest sensation in the Bhojpuri industry overnight.
