Jaipur, June 24: The serene banks of the holy Sindhu (Indus) river in Leh-Ladakh recently witnessed the historic and grand ‘First Sindhu Kumbh’. This massive spiritual gathering saw the participation of over 3,500 devotees from nearly 20 states across the country. The confluence of diverse cultures, languages, and traditions beautifully painted the picture of a ‘Mini India’ on the banks of the Sindhu.

Rajasthan Legislative Assembly Speaker Shri Vasudev Devnani traveled to Leh to be a part of this monumental event. He offered special prayers to Mother Sindhu and Lord Jhulelal, wishing for the peace, prosperity, and progress of the state and the nation. Highlighting the state’s deep faith, more than 500 devotees from Rajasthan alone attended the Mahakumbh, reflecting India’s unbreakable cultural unity.

A Reflection of ‘Mini India’ on the Sindhu Banks

The maiden Sindhu Kumbh held on Wednesday drew a massive crowd of saints, social representatives, and ordinary citizens. The dignity of the event was elevated by the presence of prominent figures, including the Mahamandaleshwar of the Juna Akhara and several senior saints. Besides Shri Devnani, notable dignitaries such as Shri Indresh Kumar, Himachal Pradesh Governor Shri Kavinder Gupta, and Tripura Assembly Speaker Shri Ramapada Jamatia graced the occasion, turning the Kumbh into a true festival of national integration.

The Birthplace of Vedas, Now Evolving as the 5th Dham

Addressing the gathering, Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani emphasized that the Sindhu river is not merely a water body but an immortal symbol of India’s national identity and glorious civilization. He recalled that the great Vedas and Upanishads were composed on these very banks. Furthermore, Lord Jhulelal incarnated on this sacred land to spread the message of love, service, and public welfare. Devnani asserted that this unique confluence of faith and national unity is rapidly developing into the ‘Fifth Dham’ (major pilgrimage site) of the country.

Pledging for Environmental Conservation and a Drug-Free Society

Beyond spiritual enlightenment, the Kumbh laid a strong emphasis on social reform. Devnani shared that all devotees at the event took a solemn oath to protect the environment, conserve water, promote cleanliness, and actively work toward building a drug-free society. He also noted the unprecedented development and beautification of the Sindhu riverbanks in recent years. Enhanced facilities have significantly boosted the faith and attraction of the common people towards this holy site, making it a prominent center of spirituality.

Conclusion

The First Sindhu Kumbh proved to be much more than a religious ceremony; it was a grand celebration of India’s integrity, national pride, and rich cultural heritage. This historic event has emerged as a powerful platform to connect citizens with their spiritual roots and further strengthen the cultural and social unity of the nation.
