Hindaun City, Karauli | May 12, 2026

Work stalled despite ₹49 Lakh approval; waterlogging poses severe accident risks

On Monday, a formal memorandum was submitted to the District Collector of Karauli, demanding the urgent repair of dilapidated city roads and measures to prevent waterlogging before the onset of the monsoon. The memorandum was presented by Rinku Kumar Jatav (Rinku Kheri Haivat), former State Secretary of the Azad Samaj Party and spokesperson for the District Jatav Samaj Sudhar Samiti.

700-Meter Main Stretch in Ruins: Hospitals and Schools Affected

The memorandum highlighted the appalling condition of the main route from the Telephone Exchange Circle to Maniram Park, spanning approximately 700–800 meters.

Critical Connectivity: This road serves as a primary link to the District Hospital, Government Girls’ School, private educational institutions, the Tehsil office, and the Khatu Shyam Temple.

Daily Commute: Thousands of students, patients, pregnant women, and devotees use this path daily. With deep potholes every 5–10 meters, the road has become a hazardous trap for commuters.

Leakages and Waterlogging: A Double Threat

According to the complaint, the condition of the road is further aggravated by persistent leakages in underground pipelines managed by the Sewerage and Water Supply (PHED) departments.

Even minor rainfall leads to severe waterlogging, masking deep potholes and causing school buses, autos, and two-wheelers to crash.

The stagnant water makes it nearly impossible for emergency patients to reach the hospital safely.

Administrative Delay: Approved Budget, Zero Action

Rinku Jatav pointed out that the Municipal Council has already passed a proposal worth ₹49 Lakh for patchwork and repairs.

Despite the approval, no physical work has commenced on the ground.

While engineers claim the tendering process is “underway,” the actual condition of the road remains unchanged as the monsoon deadline looms.

Notably, this road was originally constructed 8–9 years ago under the Gaurav Path scheme but has seen little maintenance since.

4 Key Demands to the Collector

The memorandum urges the District Collector to initiate action on a “war footing”:

Immediate Repairs: Urgent patchwork on the Telephone Exchange to Maniram Park route, including the Mohan Nagar and ROB areas.

Fix Leakages: Coordinate between the Sewerage and Water Supply departments to permanently plug pipeline leaks.

Drainage Cleaning: Ensure the desilting of drains and culverts to prevent seasonal flooding.

Monitoring: Supervise the approved ₹49 Lakh projects to ensure timely and quality completion.

Conclusion

Rinku Kheri Haivat warned that if swift action is not taken before the rains begin, the public will face severe hardships and potential loss of life and property due to road accidents. The citizens of Hindaun City now look to the District Administration for an immediate response to prevent a seasonal crisis.

Focus on Budget Implementation and Public Grievances

The Collector reviewed the progress of state budget announcements point-by-point, instructing officials to accelerate implementation and meet strictly defined deadlines. Key areas of focus included:

Public Grievance Redressal: A comprehensive review of complaints on the Sampark Portal, the Chief Minister’s Office, and the Human Rights Commission was conducted. The Collector mandated that all grievances, especially those pending for over 90 days, be resolved with high-quality solutions.

Infrastructure & Utilities:

Electricity: Directions were given to tighten loose wires and ensure an uninterrupted power supply.

Water: The Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) was told to ensure seamless water delivery and timely repair of handpumps.

Roads: The Superintending Engineer of the PWD was directed to complete road construction and development projects according to the fixed action plan.

Transparency Through Digitalization

The meeting emphasized the effective use of the E-File system to enhance transparency and efficiency in administrative processes. Collector Godara urged all district-level officers to process the maximum amount of work digitally to ensure accountability and speed up decision-making.

Conclusion

The weekly review underscores the district administration’s commitment to proactive governance. By holding officials accountable and setting firm deadlines for infrastructure and public complaints, the Karauli administration aims to ensure that the benefits of state schemes reach the common citizen without delay.
