Islamabad / Kabul – Fresh reports from Islamabad and Kabul indicate that Pakistan’s air force recently carried out a targeted operation in southern Afghanistan, focusing on a highly secured Taliban compound in Kandahar. According to security sources cited by media outlets, the operation was aimed at eliminating Taliban supreme leader Hibatullah Akhundzada.

The strike reportedly took place early Friday morning and targeted a fortified area inside Camp Gecko, a location believed to be one of the Taliban leadership’s key facilities in the region.

Casualties Reported After the Attack

Initial information from local sources suggests that at least 22 people were killed in the airstrike, while more than 50 others suffered injuries. The attack is said to have penetrated the outer defensive perimeter of the Taliban compound, indicating a carefully planned military operation.

However, there has been no official confirmation yet regarding whether Akhundzada himself was present at the site during the strike.

Kandhar: The Power Center of the Taliban

Although Afghanistan’s government operations are formally run from Kabul, Kandhar has long remained the ideological and strategic heart of the Taliban movement. The city was also the base of the Taliban’s founder Mullah Omar, and Akhundzada is believed to have maintained his base there as well.

Security observers have also noted increased aerial activity over Kandahar during the past two days, suggesting that military movements in the region had intensified before the strike.

Uncertainty Over Akhundzada’s Status

While the compound hit in the operation was reportedly the same place where Akhundzada had been staying temporarily in recent weeks, there is still no clear confirmation about his condition or whereabouts following the strike.

Analysts say that if it is confirmed that the Taliban leader was indeed present during the attack, the incident could escalate tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan, potentially leading to further instability in the region.

Islamabad: Pakistan’s precarious economic situation has once again come to the forefront. This time, the revelation didn’t come from a report or opposition allegations, but from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif himself.

Addressing leading exporters in Islamabad, the Prime Minister admitted that seeking foreign loans is a deeply painful experience for him personally and for the nation.

“We feel ashamed when asking for help”

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated unequivocally that it deeply hurts his self-respect and that of Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir when they have to travel to different countries around the world to appeal for financial assistance.

He said that relying on loans is not easy for any self-respecting nation, and such occasions make one hang their head in shame.

A decades-old problem, still persisting

The Prime Minister acknowledged that Pakistani governments have been running the country on borrowed money for a long time. He also implicitly admitted that this is not just a result of the current government’s policies, but of policies spanning several decades. Every new loan further exposes the country’s economic weakness.

Trying to recover with IMF support

This statement comes at a time when Pakistan is negotiating with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) regarding its future economic plan. Pakistan recently received $1.2 billion from the IMF, providing some relief for debt repayment and foreign exchange reserves. The government claims that foreign exchange reserves could reach $20 billion in the coming period.

Promise to support industries

The Prime Minister stated that the government has instructed the central bank and the finance ministry to facilitate access to capital for industries. He said that economic recovery is possible not just through loans, but through increased production, exports, and strengthening the private sector.

He also appealed to the central bank governor to listen to the concerns of the industrial sector and take bold decisions.

The question still remains

The Prime Minister’s candid statement has once again raised the question of why Pakistan repeatedly falls into a debt trap. Whether the path to economic self-reliance will remain limited to mere promises, or whether concrete changes will be seen in the coming years—the answer will depend on future decisions.

Pakistan JF-17 fighter jet: Wherever the label “Made in Pakistan” is attached, the world’s trust is halved. Perhaps this is why Pakistan’s supposedly state-of-the-art JF-17 fighter jet is failing to attract buyers. Despite Pakistan’s grand claims, the reality is that it hasn’t received a single export order. The Pakistani government is concerned about this lack of interest from the international community and is now beginning to acknowledge this reality.

The Defense Production Minister has admitted that the ongoing negotiations regarding the fighter jet are likely to fail.

Doubts about Pakistan’s claims

Pakistan has been making big claims about its flagship JF-17 fighter jets, presenting them as an alternative to Western fighter aircraft. The price of a single JF-17 ranges between $30 million and $40 million. According to a Moneycontrol report, Pakistani officials claim that the JF-17, along with the Chinese-made J-10 aircraft, was used during the aerial conflict with India last year.

This was done to demonstrate that its fighter jet is battle-tested. However, experts are skeptical of Pakistan’s claim. They say that the JF-17 is being heavily promoted, but it lacks the necessary capabilities.

Lack of these features in the JF-17

According to the report, the JF-17 lacks the technological advancements, weapon integration, and long-term support packages that are crucial for attracting buyers. Most countries don’t finalize deals on national security issues based solely on price. The features they require in a fighter jet are absent in Pakistan’s flagship JF-17.

Read Also –

Trump has now threatened France, warning of imposing 200 percent tariffs.

Therefore, it has not received any export orders so far. Experts say that Pakistan’s economy is weak, its foreign debt is increasing, and its international credibility has been severely damaged. In this situation, the Shehbaz Sharif government is also trying to secure other benefits instead of cash in exchange for the aircraft. However, it is not succeeding in this either.

Talks with 13 Countries, Zero Orders:

Analysts warn that Pakistan’s sales pitch is exaggerated and lacks credibility. Pakistan has held talks with 13 countries regarding the sale of JF-17 jets, drones, and training aircraft. However, none of these discussions have resulted in a contract.

Pakistan’s Minister of Defence Production, Raza Hayat Harraj, says that talks are ongoing, but there is a risk of failure due to international pressure. Meanwhile, the Pakistani military and Ministry of Defence have refused to comment on the orders, suggesting they have nothing to report.

Shehbaz Sharif’s Grand Claims:

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has publicly claimed several times that many countries are actively involved in negotiations to buy Pakistani fighter jets. However, so far, none of these talks have materialized into orders. Sudan, Nigeria, Morocco, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, and Libya reportedly showed interest in Pakistani aircraft, but the discussions did not progress.

Read Also –

“We will wipe Iran off the face of the earth,” Donald Trump’s biggest threat to Tehran.

A major reason for this is political instability in most of these countries and scrutiny of past procurement processes. Furthermore, it would not be easy for these countries to conduct defense deals with Pakistan instead of China. Sales to Sudan and Libya are also complicated by UN arms embargoes.

Fighter Jets as a Debt Repayment Tool:

The report suggests that Pakistan is using the JF-17 more as a financial tool than a commercial product. It has offered fighter jets to creditors and allies instead of cash payments. In talks with Saudi Arabia, Pakistan offered JF-17 jets in exchange for debt repayment. Similarly, similar offers have been made to other allies, as Pakistan is struggling to repay its debts.

Pakistan’s economy is in dire straits. It survives on loans from others, but the problem is that it doesn’t even have the money to repay those loans. Therefore, the Pakistani government wants to repay its debts by selling its weapons, but even this desire is not being fulfilled.

Pakistan Imran Khan Sister Arrested: Political turmoil is escalating in Pakistan. Pakistan’s cowardly Field Marshal Asim Munir has once again demonstrated the extent to which he can stoop. Action was taken after midnight against the sisters protesting outside Adiala Jail to meet Imran Khan. Imran’s sister, Aleema Khan, has been arrested. Furthermore, Imran’s supporters were also sprayed with water in the bitter December cold.

Sisters had come to meet Khan

In fact, Munir is so afraid of Imran’s name that Khan’s supporters are not even being allowed outside the jail. The court has ordered Imran’s close relatives to meet him every Tuesday. Imran’s sisters had come to meet him on the court’s orders. When they were denied access, Khan’s sisters staged a protest, prompting police action. Only Aleema Khan’s photographs have surfaced of the arrest.

Aleema Khan surrounded Asim Munir

During his arrest, Imran’s sister, Aleema Khan, fiercely attacked Asim Munir. Aleema said that no matter how much oppression Munir commits, people will soon take to the streets in support of Imran. She said, “We are the people of this country, we have rights here, this country is ours. 250 million people cannot be expelled from the country. If they wish, they can sell this country too. They have already started selling it. We stand with Imran Khan.

Insha’Allah, you will see, very soon people will come to the streets and there is no other way.” Aleema said, “We have no court to go to, and there is no law here. They are breaking the law all day long. Insha’Allah, then the people will restore their own law.”

Imran Supporters Roar

Along with Imran’s sisters, a large number of supporters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf also reached Adiala Jail. Imran Khan’s supporters also raised slogans against Munir and Shahbaz Sharif. They said that just as their leaders are standing firm inside the jail, they too are standing firm for them outside with their families.

Protest against 27th Amendment : The recent widespread street protests against the 27th Constitutional Amendment in Pakistan have further escalated political tensions in the country. Hundreds of PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) and TTAP (Tehreek Tahaffuz Ayin-e-Pakistan) activists held rallies, chanting slogans against the amendment. They claim the amendment is a conspiracy to exclude the PTI from the electoral process and a way to conceal the government’s corruption and failures.

Protest against 27th Amendment

Alleged mistreatment of Imran Khan’s sisters fuels protests

Another reason for the protests is the alleged mistreatment of Imran Khan’s sisters. PTI activists allege that the Pakistani government is using Form 47 to pressure the judiciary. They say that Imran Khan’s exclusion from politics and the mistreatment of his family are intolerable. They demand that the government conduct an impartial investigation into these incidents.

Protesters Call for the Constitution and Protest Against Political Vengeance

Protesters held massive demonstrations across Pakistan, especially in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Karachi. They chanted slogans to save the Constitution, waved black flags, and displayed posters of Imran Khan. They believe that the PTI’s struggle for constitutional supremacy, the rule of law, and human rights will continue. They accused the government of allowing only those who support its government to come to power.

TTAP and PTI Organized Joint Rallies

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, PTI provincial president Junaid Akhbar organized massive rallies in collaboration with TTAP. The protesters offered two options for peace and dialogue: either the government agrees to dialogue or allow peaceful protests. A large number of protesters gathered outside the Peshawar Press Club, calling the constitutional amendments unconstitutional and anti-Islam. In Punjab, PTI’s chief organizer, Alia Hamza, directed all ticket holders who participated in the protests to wear black bands.

Police arrest protesters

In Karachi, police arrested several protesters who were demonstrating against the constitutional amendment. However, the protesters have not backed down from raising their voices against the government. They say that only elected representatives can lead Pakistan, not a government imposed on the people.

The struggle for the Constitution will continue

Imran Khan’s supporters say that the PTI will always fight to protect the Constitution and maintain the democratic process in Pakistan. They alleged that security agencies have increased arrests of protesters and party workers, and this is a threat to democracy.

Women World Cup 2025 : The Bangladesh women’s cricket team bowled out Pakistan for just 129 runs in the Women’s ODI World Cup on Thursday, displaying a superb bowling performance. Pakistan’s batsmen couldn’t withstand the Bangladesh bowlers, and the entire team was dismissed cheaply in 38.3 overs. Chasing the target, Bangladesh won the match by scoring 131 runs for the loss of three wickets in 31.1 overs.

Marufa Akhtar’s Wrath –

For Bangladesh, 20-year-old fast bowler Marufa Akhtar took two crucial wickets for 31 runs. She destroyed Pakistan’s batting by dismissing their opening pair in the very first over. Marufa’s excellent bowling gave Pakistan early blows and made the score difficult.

Rubaya Haider’s Match-Winning Innings

Chasing Pakistan’s small target, Bangladesh batsman Rubaya Haider played an unbeaten innings of 54 runs. She was supported by captain Nigar Sultana, who scored 23 runs, and together they shared a 62-run partnership for the third wicket. Bangladesh, however, had a poor start, losing a wicket for just seven runs. Nevertheless, Haider and Sultana easily led the team to victory.

Pakistan’s Batting Woes –

Pakistan’s innings continued to crumble from the start. Left-arm spinner Nahida Akhtar dismissed Muneeba Ali (17) and Rameen Shamim (23) after the powerplay. Pakistan’s score was 47 for four after the 14th over. Even then, Pakistan’s batting continued to struggle, and no batsman could play a long innings against the Bangladesh bowlers. In the end, Pakistan failed to reach even 100 runs, being all out in 38.3 overs.

Shorana Akhtar’s hitwicket dismissal

Pakistan’s batsmen’s troubles worsened when Nashra Sandhu was caught hitwicket by Shorana Akhtar. She became the second batsman in women’s cricket history to be dismissed in this manner.

Thus, Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 7 wickets, securing a victory in their first match, thanks to excellent bowling and responsible batting.

United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) / pakistan : In a surprising move at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Pakistan nominated former US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. Introducing the proposal, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif described Trump as a “symbol of peace” and praised his global role.

Pakistan has become the first country to nominate Trump at an international forum like the UNGA. This nomination comes just days after Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir met with Trump in Washington.

Trump reportedly left no stone unturned in wooing Pakistan. He described Sharif as a “great leader” and Munir as a “respected figure,” and also called Pakistan an “important and great nation.” These statements have once again brought the diplomatic bonhomie between the two countries into focus.
