The Rajasthan Excise Department has launched a massive state-wide enforcement campaign against the illegal manufacture, storage, transportation, and sale of liquor. Under the direct supervision of Excise Commissioner Namit Mehta, the department is following a ‘Zero Tolerance’ policy, conducting intensive roadblocks, raids, and patrols. In the first 13 days of May alone, authorities have seized illicit liquor worth crores and made hundreds of arrests.

Major Breakthrough in Jodhpur: Truck Carrying Chandigarh-Only Spirits Seized

The most significant success of the campaign occurred on Wednesday night in Osian, Jodhpur. Acting on a tip-off, a joint team from the Jodhpur and Pali Excise departments set up a blockade on the Bharatmala Expressway. During the operation, they intercepted a 12-wheeled truck.

Upon inspection, officials recovered 675 cartons of various premium English liquor brands. The seized stock was specifically marked “For Sale in Chandigarh Only” and has an estimated market value of ₹58 lakh. Two individuals, including the truck driver, were arrested on the spot. District Excise Officer (Pali) Manoj Bissa and the Jodhpur Excise team played a pivotal role in this operation.

• Illicit Raw Material (Wash) Destroyed: 374,877 liters

• Banswara: Raids in sensitive areas resulted in the destruction of 3,000 liters of wash and two illegal furnaces.
• Jaipur: Operations in Chaksu and Chomu led to the destruction of 200 liters of wash near the Dhund River; four absconding suspects were also apprehended.
• Dungarpur: An Eeco car was intercepted, and the driver was arrested for transporting illegal beer and whiskey.
• Alwar & Chittorgarh: Thousands of liters of wash and several old furnaces were destroyed in the Ramgarh and Pipliya regions.

The Excise Department has reaffirmed that this campaign will continue across all zones under the leadership of Additional Excise Commissioners and District Officers. The department remains committed to dismantling the networks involved in the illegal liquor trade.

This incident happened when a program of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma was scheduled at the Shaheed Smarak. During the program, the traffic was made one-way due to VIP movement, due to which the traffic pressure on the road increased and the accident happened.

Lokendra Singh, a student of a school located on Residency Road, was crossing the road, when a speeding vehicle hit him hard. The collision was so severe that the student died on the spot. After the accident, the driver fled with the vehicle, after which the police registered a case and started investigating the matter.

This accident has become a big shock for the city residents, and due to the accident, questions have started being raised about the flaws in the traffic system on Residency Road. Police are investigating the matter and the accused driver is being searched.
