Indra Devi was a retired school teacher and had been suffering from health issues for a long time. His family is originally from Ajmer. Vasudev Devnani was born in Ajmer in 1948 and married Indra Devi in 1974. They have a son and two daughters.

Vasudev Devnani is known as a powerful leader in state politics.
