New Delhi: The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in India has categorically rejected a report broadcasted by the Indian news channel ‘Aaj Tak’, which claimed that the Iranian public is being forced to buy bread (roti) in installments (EMIs) due to a severe economic crisis. Issuing an official statement, the embassy condemned the claims as completely misleading and far from reality.

The controversy has sparked a fresh debate over media credibility, journalistic ethics, and the selection of sources for international reporting.

What Was the ‘Aaj Tak’ Claim?

During the prime-time show ‘Black and White’, anchor Anjana Om Kashyap cited a report by ‘Iran International’ to assert that international sanctions and a deep economic downturn have led to massive food shortages in Iran. The broadcast claimed that the situation had deteriorated to the point where common citizens were purchasing daily essentials, specifically roti, on EMI.

The Iranian Embassy’s Official Rebuttal

In an official statement released on June 11, the Iranian Embassy strongly pushed back against the broadcast. The key highlights of their statement include:

Normal Supply of Essentials: The embassy clarified that despite facing the consequences of three wars and extensive international pressure, there is absolutely no shortage of essential commodities or basic necessities in Iran.

Effective Governance: Under the leadership of President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, the procurement, supply, and distribution of essential goods continue in a normal, stable, and uninterrupted manner.

Questioning ‘Iran International’: The embassy urged the respected Indian media to rely only on credible and verifiable sources. They explicitly called out ‘Iran International’, stating it is a media outlet affiliated with adversaries of the Iranian people and has a long, documented history of pushing biased, anti-Iranian political agendas.

The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in India categorically rejects the reports and claims circulated by certain media outlets regarding the economic situation in Iran and alleged difficulties in the supply of essential goods and public necessities.

It is emphasized that,… pic.twitter.com/KUoJ4xHOCg
— Iran in India (@Iran_in_India) June 11, 2026

The Economic Reality in Iran: A Look at the Data

While the embassy vehemently denied any shortage of essential goods, international reports suggest that Iran is indeed navigating significant economic headwinds and high inflation.

According to official statistics from May, the country’s overall inflation rate stood at 77.2 percent.

Food prices witnessed a staggering increase of 113 percent.

International sanctions have placed immense pressure on the economy, with occasional reports of queues for essentials in specific regions like Malard.

However, the embassy maintains that coining the phrase ‘Roti on EMI’ is an extreme exaggeration and a deliberate attempt to present an insulting narrative.

Journalistic Integrity Questioned: Mohammed Zubair’s Reaction

The controversy also drew the attention of Alt News co-founder and fact-checker Mohammed Zubair, who took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to call out the news channel’s reporting standards.

Questioning the lack of a balanced narrative, Zubair tweeted:

“So @Iran_in_India Iran Embassy calls out claims aired by @anjanaomkashyap and @aajtak about the economic crisis in Iran. When an official embassy issues a direct rebuttal, shouldn’t viewers be told about the rebuttal or at least both sides of the story?”

So @Iran_in_India Iran Embassy calls out claims aired by @anjanaomkashyap and @aajtak about the economic crisis in Iran.
When an official embassy issues a direct rebuttal, shouldn't viewers be told about the rebuttal or atleast both sides of the story? pic.twitter.com/TIdGFVghXd
— Mohammed Zubair (@zoo_bear) June 11, 2026

Conclusion

This incident underscores the critical importance of responsible international reporting and the necessity of using verifiable sources. While economic data confirms high inflation in Iran, sensational claims like ‘Roti on EMI’ have been officially debunked. Media watchdogs are now urging newsrooms to present official rebuttals to maintain transparency and viewer trust.

The internet is currently witnessing a surge in searches and social media discussions surrounding alleged “leaked video” claims involving Bangladeshi influencer Arohi Mim. While these sensational headlines are designed to grab immediate attention, it is crucial to separate verified facts from potentially dangerous misinformation.

Here is a detailed report on the reality of these claims and the digital risks involved:

Fact Check: Does the Video Exist?

After a thorough investigation into the trending claims, there is no credible or verified evidence to suggest that any such video involving Arohi Mim exists or has been leaked.

Clickbait Tactics: These claims are classic examples of ‘clickbait.’ Their primary goal is to exploit user curiosity to drive traffic to specific websites for ad revenue or more malicious purposes.

Rumor vs. Reality: Most circulating links are either misleading, leading to unrelated content, or are part of an organized effort to spread hoaxes.

Who is Arohi Mim?

Arohi Mim is a prominent Bangladeshi social media influencer, model, and content creator. Known for her fashion and lifestyle content, she has built a significant following on platforms like Instagram and TikTok. Her high visibility often makes her a target for bad actors who use celebrity names to orchestrate digital scams.

The Cybersecurity Risk: A Dangerous Click

Cybersecurity experts warn that interacting with links promising “exclusive” or “leaked” footage can lead to severe security breaches. These links often serve as gateways to:

Phishing Scams: Fake login pages designed to steal your social media credentials or email passwords.

Malware and Spyware: Clicking these links can trigger silent downloads of malicious software that can monitor your device or steal banking information.

Identity Theft: Some sites use “surveys” to collect sensitive personal data, which is then sold on the dark web.

Legal Consequences and Digital Ethics

Searching for or sharing non-consensual intimate content is not only a violation of privacy and ethics but also a criminal offense under the Information Technology (IT) Act in India and similar laws globally. Engaging in the distribution of such material can lead to heavy fines and imprisonment.

Key Facts at a Glance

Topic

Status/Fact

Video Authenticity

Unverified — No authentic version exists.

Purpose of Links

Scams, Phishing, or Ad-revenue generation.

Legal Risk

High — Sharing such content is a punishable crime.

Best Practice

Avoid suspicious links and rely on official news sources.

Conclusion

In the digital age, misinformation spreads faster than truth. As responsible internet users, it is vital to practice skepticism when encountering sensational claims. Protecting your digital identity starts with avoiding unverified links and respecting the privacy of others.

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) national president Mayawati has clearly stated that the press note claiming the expulsion of Shri Mewalal Gautam, Shri Munkad Ali, and Shri Naushad Ali from the party by the Bulandshahr district unit is completely fake and forged. What is the Matter?

A letter is circulating widely on social media and WhatsApp, purportedly issued by the BSP Bulandshahr District Office (signed by Ravindra Pradhan, District President) dated 25 April 2026.

The letter claims that the three leaders have been expelled from the party due to anti-party activities and indiscipline.

It carries the BSP logo, official-looking letterhead, signature, and date, which misled many people and media outlets into believing it was genuine.

Mayawati’s Official Statement (25 April 2026):Mayawati posted on her official X (Twitter) account and clarified:

“…The press note issued on the fake letterhead of BSP District President, Bulandshahr, expelling three senior leaders — Shri Mewalal Gautam, Shri Munkad Ali, and Shri Naushad Ali — is entirely fake and fabricated. Therefore, no attention should be paid to it. Media should also refrain from such baseless news and exercise necessary caution against such fake news in future…”

She mentioned that some other expulsions (like that of Dharmveer Singh Ashok from Bulandshahr and Jay Prakash Singh from Ghaziabad) may be genuine, but the specific note regarding these three leaders is completely forged.Fact-Check:

Circulating images of the letter are already marked with big red “FAKE NEWS” and “FACT-CHECKED” stamps.

Mayawati has advised everyone to verify such claims only through official BSP channels and not to believe unverified documents.

— Mayawati (@Mayawati) April 25, 2026

Important Advice:

In the current political environment, fake news and forged party letters are being circulated rapidly, especially on letterheads with party logos.

Always cross-check important political news directly from Mayawati’s official X handle (@Mayawati) or the official BSP district/state office.

This incident once again highlights how easily misinformation spreads during sensitive political times. People and media should remain vigilant and verify before sharing or publishing such content.Would you like me to make this news article longer, shorter, or add any specific angle (like social media impact, political background, etc.)?

Fact Check : A video is rapidly going viral on social media claiming that Leh’s Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Ghulam Mohammad has accused Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s office of calling Sonam Wangchuk a “Pakistani agent” and ordering his arrest.
Investigation: Is this statement true?

To determine the truth of this viral video, we investigated the following steps:

1. Google Keyword Search: We searched the internet using keywords like “ADC Leh Sonam Wangchuk Amit Shah,” but found no authentic media reports corroborating this alleged statement.

2. Google Reverse Image Search: Analyzing the video, we performed a reverse image search on the screenshot, which led us to the Facebook page of the Leh Department of Information and Public Relations, where Ghulam Mohammad’s original statement was posted on September 25, 2025.

What was said in the original video?

In the original video, Ghulam Mohammad provided information on the condition of those injured during the protest in Leh on September 24th. He stated:

“A total of 90 people were injured, of which 4 died and 7 are seriously injured. The district administration is appealing for peace.”

In this entire video, there is no mention of Sonam Wangchuk, Home Minister Amit Shah, or any arrests. Nor is anyone called a Pakistani agent.

What is the truth of the video?

The viral video has been edited. Parts of the original video have been cut out and fake audio has been added to make it appear that ADC Ghulam Mohammad has made serious allegations against the government. This video appears to have been deliberately created to provoke people.

Caution Required:

It is extremely important to verify the authenticity of any viral video or claim on social media before sharing it. False information not only spreads confusion but can also lead to legal action.
