Karauli, June 1, 2026: The administration has launched a strict crackdown on medical stores that jeopardize patients’ health by selling medicines in violation of established guidelines. Following the discovery of gross irregularities, the Drug Control Department has taken stringent action and suspended the license of a medical store in Hindaun City, Karauli district.

Licensing Authority and Assistant Drug Controller, Shri Chandra Prakash Jatav, stated that the drug license of ‘Prem Medical and General Store’, located on Bypass Road (Kyarda Khurd, opposite the petrol pump) in Hindaun City, has been suspended for three days, effective from June 8 to June 10, 2026.

Surprise Inspection Exposes Blatant Violations

To ensure the availability of safe and pure medicines in the region, the Drug Control Department has been running a continuous inspection campaign. As part of this drive, Drug Inspector Shri Vineet Kumar Mittal conducted a surprise inspection of the aforementioned medical store. The investigation revealed that the firm was openly flouting medical regulations.

Major Irregularities Found at the Medical Store:

During the inspection, the team uncovered several critical violations, which formed the basis for the license suspension:

Absence of Pharmacist: No registered pharmacist was present at the store during the time of inspection, which is a direct violation of drug safety rules.

Sale Without Prescription: The store operator was found selling medicines to patients without a valid doctor’s prescription.

Negligence Involving Schedule H and H1 Drugs: Highly sensitive drugs, including sleeping pills, strong painkillers, and antibiotics falling under Schedule H and H1 categories, were being sold without the presence of a pharmacist and without proper medical prescriptions.

No Register Maintenance: The licensee had failed to maintain the mandatory sale register for Schedule H1 drugs.

Sales Without Billing: The probe further revealed that medicines were being sold to customers without issuing official retail bills.

Missing Inspection Book: At the time of the raid, the store operator failed to produce the mandatory ‘Drug Inspection Book’ (Form 35), as required by law.

Zero Tolerance for Negligence

Taking serious note of these massive operational flaws, the Assistant Drug Controller clarified that the license suspension was executed using the powers conferred under Rule 66 of the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules, 1945. He issued a stern warning that any negligence in the storage and sale of medicines linked to public health will absolutely not be tolerated. The department will continue to take equally strict legal actions against any firms found violating these crucial health protocols.

Karauli, June 1, 2026: In compliance with the directives of the Rajasthan State Legal Services Authority (Jaipur), a major administrative inspection was carried out at the Government Observation and Juvenile Home in Karauli on Monday. Shri Pratap Singh Meena, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) and Additional District & Sessions Judge, conducted a surprise inspection of the facility. The sudden crackdown exposed several administrative lapses and hygiene issues, prompting the Secretary to issue immediate rectification orders.

Direct Interaction: Educating Children on Free Legal Aid

During the visit, nine juveniles in conflict with the law were found residing at the home. Demonstrating a sensitive and supportive approach, Judge Pratap Singh Meena interacted with the children individually:

Assessing Grievances: He inquired about their well-being, the quality of food served, and the overall living conditions at the facility.

Legal Awareness: The children were thoroughly educated about their fundamental legal rights and the availability of free legal aid provided by the government.

Emergency Helpline: He familiarized them with the functioning of the Legal Aid Defense Counsel (LADC) system and shared the NALSA Helpline Number 15100 for immediate legal assistance.

Lapses Exposed: Substandard Hygiene in Kitchen and Store Room

A meticulous round of the basic amenities—including the toilets, medical room, pantry, and kitchen area—revealed major maintenance gaps:

Key Violations Observed:

Unmarked Food Supplies: Flour sacks stored in the kitchen lacked mandatory manufacturing and expiry dates, posing a potential health hazard to the children.

Neglected Cleanliness: The food storage room (pantry) lacked basic sanitation. Furthermore, the refrigerator used for storing perishables was found in an unhygienic condition.

Taking serious note of these lapses, the DLSA Secretary reprimanded the management and issued strict, legally binding guidelines to the Superintendent to overhaul the kitchen protocols immediately.

Special Directives for Infant Care During Peak Summer

Extending his inspection, the Judge visited the Special Adoption Agency located within the same complex to review the health status of infants and newborns. Given the ongoing harsh summer wave across the state, he directed the staff to deploy adequate cooling measures, ensure round-the-clock medical preparedness, and maintain extreme vigilance regarding the health of the infants.

The inspection was conducted in the presence of Juvenile Home Superintendent Ashish Bansal, Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Member Dilip Meena, DLSA Private Assistant Manvendra Singh, and other institutional staff.
