NEW DELHI / MUMBAI: In the digital era, cybercriminals are constantly inventing sophisticated and dangerous tactics to defraud innocent citizens. The latest scam involves fraudulent links circulating under the name of an ‘Indian Bhabhi MMS Leak’, which are spreading rapidly across WhatsApp, Telegram, and various other social media platforms. Behind these explicit links lies a massive conspiracy designed to exploit user curiosity and completely empty their bank accounts within a matter of minutes.

Key Highlights of this News:

Exploiting Curiosity: Cybercriminals lure users by sending messages with enticing yet explicit titles like “MMS Leak” or “Viral Video”.

Covert Malware Installation: The moment a user clicks on the link, a dangerous malware (virus) or an unknown APK file is downloaded into the background of the phone.

Theft of OTP and Data: This virus not only gains access to the phone’s gallery and messages but also forwards banking One-Time Passwords (OTPs) directly to the scammers.

Financial Fraud: Once the fraudsters gain complete control of the device, they wipe out the user’s entire bank balance within minutes.

How Does This Dangerous Trap Work?

According to law enforcement and investigative agencies, these criminals exploit human psychology. When an unsuspecting user clicks on the suspicious link, instead of playing any video, the platform prompts them to install an unknown file or silently installs a dangerous virus in the background. Once this malware becomes active, it begins monitoring every single digital activity of the user.

The trap becomes particularly lethal when the user logs into net banking or makes payments via UPI. The virus steals passwords and PINs using advanced key-logs. Most alarmingly, it intercepts the banking OTP from the user’s inbox and forwards it directly to the criminals. Because the malware works silently, the victim has absolutely no clue that a fraud is taking place until their account is entirely cleaned out.

How to Protect Yourself?

Cybersecurity experts have shared vital safety guidelines to protect yourself from such digital traps:

Avoid Suspicious Links: Never click on any unknown or suspicious links received on WhatsApp, Telegram, or other social media groups.

Stick to Official App Stores: Always download applications strictly from official platforms like the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Never install third-party APK files.

Keep Credentials Private: Never share your banking details, passwords, UPI PINs, or OTPs with anyone.

Emergency Protocol: If you accidentally click on such a link, immediately turn off your phone’s internet, back up your vital data, and perform a factory reset (Format) on your device.

Report Immediately: In case of financial fraud, immediately report the incident on the official National Cyber Crime Portal.

Disclaimer: This article is for public awareness and informational purposes only. Always maintain strict vigilance during any online activity. For any official assistance or reporting regarding cyber crimes, rely solely on authorized government portals like cybercrime.gov.in.

NEW DELHI: In an unprecedented move to ensure the integrity of the upcoming National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2026 re-examination, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has temporarily blocked the Telegram messaging app across India. Implemented at the request of the National Testing Agency (NTA), the ban will remain effective until June 22. This sweeping action aims to dismantle organized cyber rackets that are actively exploiting the platform to defraud students by promising early access to question papers.

Key Highlights:

Temporary Nationwide Ban: Access to the Telegram app is completely restricted in India until June 22, 2026.

Editing Feature Disabled: To prevent the creation of fake “leak” evidence, Telegram’s message-editing feature has been suspended until June 30.

Massive Cyber Fraud Busted: Multiple Telegram channels offering fake question papers in exchange for hefty sums have been taken down.

Multi-Crore Scam: Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Branch recently arrested an inter-state gang operating eight Telegram channels, uncovering fraudulent transactions worth Rs 1.5 crore.

Why Was Telegram Targeted?

The original NEET-UG exam held on May 3 was canceled following widespread allegations of a paper leak, prompting the government to adopt a zero-tolerance policy for the June 21 re-test. Investigations led by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) and various state police forces revealed that Telegram had become a safe haven for scammers. Fraudulent channels and bots operating under names like “PAPER LEAKED NEET”, “Re-NEET 2026”, and “Private Mafia” were actively soliciting thousands to lakhs of rupees from vulnerable candidates and their parents, falsely guaranteeing access to the re-exam question paper.

NTA STATEMENT REGARDING THE ACTION ON TELEGRAM PLATFORM IN INDIA

1. The National Testing Agency (NTA) welcomes the directions issued today in respect of the Telegram platform in India. The directions, issued on recommendations of NTA are calibrated and bounded in time:

(a) a…
— National Testing Agency (@NTA_Exams) June 16, 2026

The ‘Message Editing’ Loophole Addressed

Authorities identified Telegram’s message-editing feature as a primary tool for fabricating post-exam evidence. Scammers would traditionally post a generic message before the exam. Once the exam concluded and the actual paper became public, they would edit the old message to include the real questions while retaining the original, pre-exam timestamp. This created a highly deceptive narrative that the paper was leaked beforehand. To completely shut down this avenue of misinformation, the IT Ministry has ordered the disabling of the edit feature in India until June 30.

Widespread Arrests and Strict NTA Advisory

Law enforcement agencies across the country, including the Bihar Police Economic Offences Unit (EOU), have intensified their crackdown on these digital cheating syndicates. Highlighting the scale of the fraud, the Ahmedabad City Cyber Crime Branch recently dismantled a gang that had contacted nearly 1,000 mobile numbers within a month, routing over Rs 1.5 crore through proxy bank accounts.

While acknowledging that millions of Indians use Telegram for legitimate educational and professional communication, the NTA expressed regret for the temporary inconvenience. However, the agency emphasized that this time-bound restriction is crucial for national security and public order. The NTA has reassured candidates that the examination system remains fully secure and no paper exists outside the official chain. Students are strongly advised to ignore online rumors and report any suspicious activity to the National Cyber Crime Helpline at 1930.

Social media influencer Sofia Ansari is once again in the limelight. This time, it’s not due to her usual glamorous posts, but because of persistent rumours about an alleged private MMS video leak. This news is spreading like wildfire across the internet, causing a stir among her millions of followers and general internet users.

1. The Genesis of the Rumour and Social Media Frenzy

Recently, claims surfaced on various social media platforms—primarily X (formerly Twitter) and Telegram—alleging that a private video involving Sofia Ansari and an unidentified male had been leaked. Hashtags related to this alleged “leaked video” began trending rapidly, drawing a large number of users who were searching for the content. A significant number of people became active on online platforms in the pursuit of this sensitive video.

2. Video Authenticity: What is the Truth?

According to investigation and several media reports, there is no official confirmation regarding the authenticity of the video circulating on the internet under Sofia Ansari’s name.

Nature of the Videos: The clips being circulated under Sofia’s name are often old or fragmented parts of different videos that are stitched together with the intention of damaging her image.

Fake Content: It is highly likely that the viral clips are either Deepfakes created using sophisticated technology or videos of another individual being falsely attributed to Sofia Ansari.

Past Incidents: Sofia Ansari has been at the centre of similar controversies before. Her bold persona on social media often subjects her to such online rumours and trolling.

3. Impact on the Influencer and Legal Aspects

Rumours of private video leaks can have a severely negative impact on an individual’s mental health and career. Female influencers, in particular, often face intense online harassment and character assassination.

Under Indian law, sharing any individual’s private video without their consent is a serious offence. Forwarding or sharing such fake or private content is also considered a violation of cyber laws.

4. Our Conclusion and Advice

We urge readers to refrain from sharing such unverified and sensitive material. Not every rumour circulating on the internet should be taken as the truth. Disseminating such content not only harms an individual’s reputation but can also make you an unwitting participant in a cybercrime. Do not trust any video without confirming its authenticity.

In one of India’s largest cybercrime busts, police have uncovered a massive fraud network worth over ₹3000 crore, operated from Thailand and Cambodia, but managed through a corporate setup in Bengaluru.

The syndicate used fake gaming and investment apps to lure victims. Shockingly, a single bank account linked to this fraud has over 5,000 unresolved complaints, yet remains unfrozen. Investigations so far have revealed 400 crore+ transactions through just four fake companies out of more than 100 created for the scam.

The investigation began in April 2025 when a teacher in Dholpur’s Bari Police Station reported a fraud of ₹15 lakh. Following the money trail, police traced the origin to a Bengaluru-based company named Abundance, which operates a payment app called TriPay.

The gang’s operations were organized in four key divisions:

Onboarding Team – Created fake companies with full documentation.

Reseller Team – Managed verification processes.

Technical Team – Generated QR codes and links for scamming.

Legal Support – Handled disputes and complaints.

One of the arrested directors, Rohit Srivastava, confessed that he transferred nearly ₹1 crore daily from fake accounts into the main company account.

Notable Cases:

‘Ruknak’ company had a turnover of ₹100 crore in just 6 months, but its directors lived in a slum and earned ₹27,000 per month.

‘Jovik’ company’s director was previously a security guard in the same fraud operation.

IG Bharatpur Range, Rahul Prakash, stated that the scam likely exceeds current estimates and has requested that a capable state or central agency take over the probe.
