JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Vidhan Sabha is entering its 75th year of a glorious parliamentary journey. To commemorate this historic milestone, the state government has outlined a roadmap for year-long celebrations under the ‘Amrit Mahotsav’. During a meeting of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (Rajasthan Branch) executive committee, chaired by Speaker Vasudev Devnani, the framework for four major national-level events was finalized.
Invitation to National Leadership
Speaker Vasudev Devnani stated that these celebrations would serve as a tribute to the spirit of Indian parliamentary democracy. Reflecting the significance of the occasion, the President, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Lok Sabha Speaker will be invited to grace the events. The programs will feature special sessions with constitutional and parliamentary experts, focusing on connecting the history, present, and future of democracy.
The Four Pillars of Amrit Mahotsav:
- Grand Conference of Former and Current Legislators (July): The first event in July will bring together members of the 1st to 16th Vidhan Sabhas on a single platform. The conference will review historical legislation, transformative social decisions, and parliamentary traditions. Former Speakers, Deputy Speakers, and senior-most members will be honored for their contributions to the dignity of the House and the state’s digital legislative transformation.
- National Conference of Women Legislators (October): The second program, dedicated to women, is scheduled for October. Women legislators from across the country will participate to deliberate on policy-making, the evolving role of women in administration, and the aspirations of young female representatives.
- Youth Parliament and Constitutional Awareness (January): To bridge the gap between youth and democratic roots, a special event will be held in January. Selected students from schools and universities will participate in a ‘Youth Parliament’ and receive training in parliamentary decorum and constitutional awareness.
- All-India Legislative Mahakumbh (March 2027): The Amrit Mahotsav will conclude with a grand ‘All-India Legislative Mahakumbh’ scheduled for Rajasthan Diwas 2027. This summit will host legislative leadership from across the country, including Speakers, Deputy Speakers, and Secretaries of various state legislatures, to discuss the future of the Indian legislative system.
A Confluence of Tradition and Innovation
Speaker Devnani emphasized that this festival would be a confluence of experience, tradition, and innovation. The meeting was attended by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel, Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully, Assembly Principal Secretary Bharat Bhushan Sharma, and other senior members of the executive committee.
