Now the Gemini app will tell whether the photo is real or created by Google’s AI!

AI Photo Checker Google Gemini —These days, every photo sent on social media or in chat is met with suspicion—is it a real photo or a work of AI? Previously, small flaws in a photo were enough to identify it, but now AI-generated images are so realistic that it’s difficult to immediately distinguish. Google has put a solution to this problem in the hands of its users.

New Image Checking Feature in Gemini App

Google has confirmed that its Gemini app now includes a built-in image verification tool. This feature launched with Google’s new Gemini 3-powered Nano Banana Pro model. Its purpose is to help users verify whether a photo was created or edited by Google’s AI.

SynthID: Invisible Identification Marks Hidden in Photos

This entire technology is based on Google’s SynthID system. SynthID adds digital watermarks to images created with Google’s AI tools that are invisible to the naked eye and don’t degrade the image quality.

Gemini reads these hidden signals to determine whether a photo is created by Google AI or taken with a real camera. But it’s important to note that Gemini can only recognize photos created within Google’s ecosystem. If the image is created by an AI model from another company or independent developer, it won’t be able to track it.

Why is this feature important?

Google has applied the SynthID watermark to over 20 billion AI-generated photos since 2023. Identifying such a large number of AI images in a single app will be extremely helpful for users—especially at a time when false or misleading visuals are spreading rapidly.

How to verify any photo?

It’s very easy to verify the authenticity of any image:

  1. Upload the photo to the Gemini app.
  2. Ask: “Was this created by Google AI?”, “Is this an AI-generated image?”
  3. The app will scan the photo and give a clear answer as soon as it finds the SynthID watermark.

In just a few seconds, you’ll know whether the photo is real or a work of Google’s AI.
