Former MLA Hetram Beniwal passes away, last rites of the struggling leader

Hetram Beniwal Passed Away : Mr. Hetram Beniwal (94), a senior leader of the Communist Party of India and former MLA from Sangaria, has passed away. He had been ill for a long time and passed away at a private hospital at around 11:15 pm on Monday night.

He was admitted to the hospital three days ago due to hemoglobin deficiency, and developed severe pneumonia after a blood transfusion.

Struggle Leader and Champion of Farmers and Laborers

Hetram Beniwal was a prominent CPI(M) leader in Sri Ganganagar district and an inspiration for mass movements. He led several movements for the rights of farmers and laborers, notably the Ghadsana Farmers’ Movement. His struggles even landed him in jail, where he spent nearly six years.

Personal Life and Education

Hetram Beniwal was born on June 10, 1934, in Sukhchen, Punjab. He received his education from Dungar College, Bikaner, where he earned a Master’s (MA) degree.

Political Journey

Hetram Beniwal contested his first election in 1967 from the Sangaria Assembly constituency on a CPI(M) ticket. He was denied a ticket in 1977, but despite this, he made significant contributions to regional politics. In 1971-72, his contribution to the movement for land allocation for the first phase of the IGNP was extraordinary, forcing the government of then Chief Minister Mohanlal Sukhadia to surrender.

Similarly, in 2003, he also forced the Vasundhara Raje government to surrender through his struggles.Beniwal’s contributions will always be remembered, and his selfless struggles have inspired generations.
