Anand Mishra, a distinguished former IPS officer, has been elected as the MLA from Bastar in the 2025 assembly elections. Mishra, who served in the Bihar cadre since 1986 and held key policing positions including SP of Nagaon District Assam Police and Director General of Home Defence Battalion and Fire Services, won the Bastar seat on a BJP ticket. He defeated his nearest Congress rival by a significant margin. Known for his exemplary service during his three decades in the police force, Mishra also earned the President’s Police Medal for outstanding service. Since retiring from active policing, he transitioned into politics and successfully contested the Bastar assembly seat, marking a notable shift from his law enforcement career to legislative leadership. This victory highlights his continued commitment to public service and development in the Bastar region.
