A potential disaster was narrowly avoided late Thursday night on the Jaipur-Ajmer Highway when a CNG carrier truck suffered a major gas leak in the Bhankrota area. The incident occurred around 1:15 AM near an old car showroom when the main pipe of the truck, filled with CNG cylinders, suddenly broke.
10 Minutes of Continuous Leakage Causes Panic
As soon as the pipe broke, gas began leaking with a hissing sound, alarming nearby drivers and locals. The truck driver acted swiftly by pulling the vehicle over and attempted to control the leakage using a cloth. The gas continued leaking for about 10 minutes, creating a high risk of explosion or fire.
Quick Response by Police and Fire Team Prevents Disaster
Upon receiving the alert, Bhankrota police, fire brigade, and an ambulance rushed to the scene. With the help of other truck drivers, traffic on both sides of the highway was halted. The team then carefully moved the truck to a deserted bypass area to reduce risk.
Leak Stopped, Situation Brought Under Control
Fire officers successfully repaired the damaged pipeline, stopping the gas leak. Chief Fire Officer Gautam Lal stated that if the leak hadn’t been contained in time, it could have led to a serious accident. Fortunately, the released gas dispersed into the air, preventing any injury or explosion.
