Deeg (Rajasthan):
In a major breakthrough, Gopalgarh Police of Deeg district arrested five cyber fraudsters who were operating from the forest areas of Ladmaka and Ardooka. The police also seized seven mobile phones from the accused, believed to have been used in various frauds.
Station Officer Manish Sharma said they received a tip-off on June 5 about some youths engaged in online fraud activities inside the jungle. Acting swiftly, the police team surrounded the area and nabbed the suspects.
During the search, 7 mobile phones were recovered. On interrogation, the accused confessed that the devices belonged to their gang member Mujahid, who had been with them but managed to flee before the raid.
The accused revealed that they used stolen phones and fake SIM cards to create fake social media profiles in the names of women. They would then make obscene video calls, record them, and blackmail victims for money.
Besides this, they also duped people by pretending to sell e-cigarettes and tricking them with fake Dream-11 winning team tips.
Police are now analyzing the seized mobile phones to track the number of victims and are continuing their search for the absconding accused, Mujahid.
