Twin sisters commit suicide together, die at the age of 89

Kessler twins Commit Sucide : The Kessler twins, Alice Kessler and Ellen Kessler, who lived in Germany, committed suicide at the age of 89. Their deaths were announced by the German Society for Humane Dying (DGHS).

Why did they make this decision?

The Kessler twins contacted the DGHS more than a year ago, expressing their desire to commit suicide. DGHS spokeswoman Vega Wetzel stated that the twins’ wish to die was well-thought-out and long-term.

Status of assisted suicide in Germany

Physician-assisted suicide (PAS) was legalized in Germany by the Federal Constitutional Court in 2020. According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), PAS has been legalized in several Western European countries.
