Jaipur. In a unique initiative to shape the future of young children and connect them with early education through play, the Rajasthan government has launched a mega campaign. Organized by the Women and Child Development Department, this special drive is being conducted across all Anganwadi centers in the state for children aged 3 to 6 years. Running from June 24 to July 1, 2026, the campaign aims to ensure high-quality pre-school education at the grassroots level.

Sharing detailed insights, Vasudev Malawat, Director of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), stated that the main highlight of this community-driven campaign is the establishment of a “Toy Bank” (Khilona Bank) at every center. Alongside this, “Praveshotsav” (Enrollment Festival) to welcome new children and “Tree Plantation” drives to promote environmental conservation are being organized on a large scale. This step is expected to transform the environment of Anganwadi centers and significantly boost student enrollment.

Building ‘Toy Banks’ Through Public Participation

The success of this campaign relies heavily on public cooperation. According to the ICDS Director, from June 24 to June 30, Anganwadi workers and helpers will conduct intensive door-to-door surveys in their respective areas. During these visits, they will introduce local communities and parents to the concept of the “Toy Bank” and the benefits of early enrollment.

This seven-day outreach will map out children aged 3 to 6 years who have not yet registered with Anganwadi centers. Workers will counsel their parents and invite them to the main event on July 1.

A core objective of the drive is to recycle old, safe, and educational toys. Families whose children have grown up are being encouraged to voluntarily donate toys that are lying unused in their homes. These collected items will play a vital role in the physical, mental, and psychological development of toddlers. The department has set a practical target of collecting at least 10 to 20 safe toys at each Anganwadi center.

Mega Celebration on July 1: Registration and ‘Thank You’ Letters

The grand culmination of this special campaign will take place on July 1, 2026. At exactly 9:00 AM, “Toy Banks” will be inaugurated simultaneously across all Anganwadi centers in Rajasthan. Concurrently, the “Praveshotsav” drive will officially register new children into the system to begin their early childhood education.

To integrate this celebration with the community, local public representatives, departmental officers, Panchayati Raj members, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), parents, and children have been invited.

In a thoughtful move to encourage public philanthropy, the department will present an official “Letter of Appreciation” (Dhanyavad-Patra) to every citizen who contributes toys to the bank. Immediately following the conclusion of the main event, extensive tree plantation drives will be carried out within the Anganwadi premises and nearby public spaces to foster environmental awareness among children right from their infancy.

A Milestone for Holistic Child Development

Experts emphasize that early childhood is a phase of rapid cognitive growth. The playful learning environment provided by Anganvadi centers lays a strong foundation for a child’s academic journey. An innovative step like a “Toy Bank” will bridge the gap for children from rural and economically weaker backgrounds, granting them access to creative and modern educational toys. This will not only improve daily attendance but also substantially reduce early drop-out rates.

Conclusion

This multi-dimensional campaign by the Women and Child Development Department perfectly blends child welfare with environmental responsibility in Rajasthan. Establishing toy banks through community sourcing and stream-lining new admissions will elevate government Anganwadis to compete effectively with private play-schools. Concluding the drive with a green footprint ensures the steady building of a healthier, well-educated, and eco-conscious future generation.

JAIPUR: Rajasthan’s Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Women and Child Development, Diya Kumari, has taken a proactive step toward enhancing the quality and nutritional value of meals provided at the state’s Anganwadi centers. During a program held at the Secretariat on Wednesday, she not only inspected the department’s proposed ‘Nutri Pulao Premix’ but also personally conducted a taste test to evaluate its quality.

‘Nutri Pulao’ to Replace ‘Upma’

Currently, children aged 03 to 06 years at Anganwadi centers receive ‘Upma Premix’ as part of the Hot Cooked Meal (HCM) program. After tasting the newly developed ‘Nutri Pulao Premix’ sample, the Deputy Chief Minister noted that it is well-suited to the tastes of children and aligns with Rajasthan’s culinary background.

Expressing her satisfaction, the Deputy Chief Minister directed the ICDS (Integrated Child Development Services) Directorate to take the necessary steps to include Nutri Pulao in the children’s diet as soon as possible.

Improvements in Breakfast Options

The Deputy Chief Minister also offered significant suggestions regarding the breakfast provided at Anganwadi centers. She instructed CONFED to propose better, more nutritious alternatives to the currently served ‘Murmura’ (puffed rice). She emphasized that these changes must be implemented within the existing price rates to avoid any additional burden on the government budget.

Focus on Quality and Nutrition

The government’s primary objective is to provide children with delicious, home-style, and highly nutritious meals. Senior officials from the Women and Child Development Department were also present during the inspection. This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to combating malnutrition and fostering the physical and mental development of children across the state.
