In Bhopar village of the Todabhim area, the alleged negligence of the electricity department has claimed three lives. Following the tragic and untimely deaths of three members of the Jatav community, grieving family members and outraged villagers staged a prolonged protest at the incident site. Ultimately, a consensus was reached after marathon negotiations between the administration, public representatives, and community leaders, following which the post-mortem of the three deceased was conducted on the spot.

Agreement Reached on Compensation and Government Jobs

To end the prolonged deadlock, several crucial decisions were made under the agreement reached between the administration and the affected families:

Immediate Relief: Each affected family was handed immediate cash assistance of ₹50,000 and a cheque for ₹5 lakh.

Additional Compensation: An additional financial aid of ₹7 lakh will be provided to each family within 15 days.

Government Job: The administration also agreed to provide a government job to one member of each victim’s family.

Action Against the Guilty: The electricity department employees found prima facie negligent in the matter were suspended with immediate effect.

Presence of Officials and Public Representatives

Throughout the entire sequence of events and negotiations, several top district officials and public representatives remained stationed at the site. Representing the administration were the Additional District Collector (Karauli), Sub-Divisional Officer (Todabhim), Additional Superintendent of Police (Karauli), and the DYSP of Hindaun.

Among the public representatives and community leaders present were Todabhim MLA Ghanshyam Mehar, Hindaun MLA Anita Jatav, Zila Pramukh representative Rakshilal Bairwa, District Jatav Samaj Sudhar Samiti President Hattiram Thekedar, Youth President Hariom Thekedar, Spokesperson Rinku Khedi Haivat (Rinku Kumar Jatav), Amarsingh Baba, Nemichand Tesgaon, and Prem, along with a massive gathering of villagers.

Serious Questions Raised Over Electricity Department’s Functioning

This heart-wrenching incident in Bhopar has once again exposed the glaring flaws in the functioning and safety protocols of the electricity department. There is immense outrage among the local residents. They have demanded strict legal action against the suspended personnel and urged the authorities to implement robust and effective safety measures to prevent the recurrence of such tragic incidents in the future.

Conclusion: The Bhopar tragedy stands as a grim example of administrative and departmental negligence. Although the administration managed to pacify the situation with promises of financial compensation and employment, this incident serves as a severe warning. Government departments must be held more accountable for public safety so that no innocent person ever has to lose their life in this manner again.
