The Supreme Court of India has officially declined a plea demanding the upcoming NEET UG re test be held in a computer based format. The highly anticipated medical entrance re examination scheduled for June 21 will continue using the traditional pen and paper mode.

During the hearing, a vacation bench comprising Justices PS Narasimha and Aravind Kumar refused to alter the examination medium at the eleventh hour. The court highlighted the immense pressure the National Testing Agency (NTA) is already facing following the recent paper leak controversies that led to the exam’s initial cancellation.

When the petitioner’s counsel pressed solely for the shift to a digital test to prevent future leaks, the bench firmly stated that similar petitions had already been dismissed. The court noted that forcing a sudden transition to a computer based model would create severe logistical hurdles and practical difficulties for the exam authorities.

The justices ultimately decided to defer the matter until July after the court’s summer vacation concludes. This ruling effectively shuts down any hopes of a digital exam format for the current test cycle while the CBI continues its ongoing investigation into the alleged paper leaks.
