On Thursday, June 11, 2026, a high-level review meeting on pre-monsoon preparations was held at the Government Secretariat, chaired by the Minister for Disaster Management, Relief, and Civil Defence, Dr. Kirodi Lal Meena, and Minister of State, Shri Otaram Dewasi. The government has unequivocally stated that ‘Public Safety’ remains its topmost priority.

Control Rooms to Operate Round-the-Clock from June 15

Addressing the meeting, Dr. Meena emphasized that early warning and rapid response are the foundations of successful disaster management.

All disaster control rooms established at the state and district levels will become active 24×7 starting June 15.

Social media, SMS, and WhatsApp groups will be utilized effectively for the immediate dissemination of weather warnings issued by the IMD.

All officials have been strictly instructed to download the ‘Sachet App’ to stay updated with real-time weather alerts.

A dedicated ‘Weather Watch Group’ has been constituted to regularly monitor rainfall status, assess potential risks, and review ongoing preparations.

Strict Instructions for Coordinated Departmental Action

To ensure that relief and rescue operations are effectively executed on the ground, specific responsibilities have been assigned to various departments:

Energy & PWD: Ensure an uninterrupted power supply with backup heavy-duty generators. Identify dilapidated buildings and install proper warning signs at risky locations like railway underpasses and flood-prone zones.

Animal Husbandry & Food Supply: Ensure adequate arrangements for animal fodder, medicines, and vaccinations. Ensure advance stocking of essential food grains and relief materials in highly sensitive and vulnerable areas.

Three-Tier Flood Management and Rescue Team Deployment

The government has prepared a three-tier action plan for flood management: pre-flood preparation, relief and rescue during the disaster, and post-flood rehabilitation.

To ensure rapid response during emergencies, forces including the SDRF, NDRF, Army, Air Force, Police, Civil Defence, and Home Guards have been put on high alert. Additionally, the availability of expert divers, life jackets, rescue boats, and ropes is being strictly ensured.
