The ‘Dadudayal Nomadic Empowerment Scheme’, designed for the comprehensive development of Denotified, Nomadic, and Semi-Nomadic communities in Rajasthan, was recently reviewed at a high level. Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Shri Dinesh Kumar issued strict guidelines to ensure the effective implementation of the scheme.

Focus on Education and Scholarships

During the meeting held at the Government Secretariat, several critical points regarding the educational advancement of children from these communities were discussed:

• Residential Facilities: Discussions focused on the improved management of residential schools and hostels.
• Incentive Programs: Emphasis was placed on the timely distribution of cycles and scooties to students, as well as the prompt payment of pre-matric and post-matric scholarships.
• Navjivan Yojana: The review looked into arrangements for providing quality education to talented children from these communities in prestigious private schools.

Strengthening Housing and Basic Amenities

To improve the living standards of nomadic families, the ACS directed officials to expedite the following processes:

• Chief Minister Nomadic Housing Scheme: Progress in housing construction in both rural and urban areas was evaluated.
• Convergence of Schemes: Plans were discussed to link MGNREGA funds and Swachh Bharat Mission incentives for toilets directly with the housing scheme.
• New Surveys: Instructions were given to conduct fresh surveys to identify families with land lease deeds (pattas) and those who were previously excluded from housing benefits to update the departmental database.

The meeting was attended by Shri Lalit Kumar (Director, Social Justice and Empowerment), Shri Pratap Singh (Joint Secretary, Finance), Shri Bharat Bhushan Goyal (Deputy Secretary, Panchayati Raj), and senior officials from Urban Development, Art & Culture, and the Archaeology departments.
