Jaipur. Rajasthan is making significant strides toward realizing the national vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047‘. To ensure sustainable and grassroots-level economic growth, the state government is placing a strategic emphasis on a ‘District-Based Development Model’. On Monday, June 22, a high-level meeting on ‘District Domestic Product Estimates’ was convened at the Chief Minister’s residence, in the presence of NITI Aayog member Professor K.V. Raju.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma emphasized that every district in Rajasthan possesses a unique identity, distinct geographical conditions, and abundant local resources. By centering development strategies around these localized economic potentials, the state is crafting a practical roadmap to elevate its economy to new heights.

The Chief Minister highlighted that the government’s investor-friendly policies, focused on good governance and industrial growth, are successfully attracting large-scale investments. Furthermore, the state’s startup ecosystem is flourishing, with over 6,000 active startups currently driving innovation and generating employment for the youth.

NITI Aayog Commends Rajasthan as an ‘Achiever’ State

During the meeting, NITI Aayog member Prof. K.V. Raju highly lauded the state government’s proactive policies and their effective execution. Categorizing Rajasthan under the ‘Achievers’ bracket, he noted that the state has demonstrated excellent performance in crucial sectors like rural development and drinking water supply schemes.

Prof. Raju pointed out that Rajasthan holds immense, untapped potential in solar energy, mining, agriculture, and tourism. He suggested that by building a high-tech database, the contributions of these primary sectors could be more accurately integrated into the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP). Additionally, he stressed the need for continuous monitoring of welfare schemes and expanding the sample size for surveys to better capture the unorganized sector.

Integrating the Unorganized Sector and Local Products

Delving into the rural and traditional economy, Chief Minister Sharma stated that the government is meticulously working on the annual survey of unorganized sector enterprises. This initiative is enabling small-scale industries—such as Churu’s handicraft industry, Bharatpur’s mustard-based small enterprises, and traditional tribal products from Banswara and Udaipur—to transition into the organized formal economy.

The economic output of these local enterprises is now becoming visibly reflected in the state’s GSDP. Under the ‘Panch Gaurav’ initiative, innovations are being introduced across districts targeting local crops, vegetation, products, tourism, and sports, directly benefiting grassroots communities.

Vision for the Future: ‘Mukhyamantri Viksit Gram-Shhari Ward Abhiyan’

To ensure balanced and uniform development from the district down to the panchayat and ward levels, the state has launched the ‘Mukhyamantri Viksit Gram-Shhari Ward Abhiyan’. Under this campaign, a visionary master plan for the milestone years 2030, 2035, and 2047 is being formulated based on public feedback and localized requirements.

Furthermore, to ground Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Vocal for Local’ vision, the state is driving the holistic development of aspirational sub-divisions. Effective action plans for the processing, storage, and marketing of identified local crops and products have been put in place, providing a robust foundation for cottage and small-scale industries.

Data-Driven Governance: The New ‘District Domestic Product Portal’

To ensure precise evaluation of economic progress, the Chief Minister underscored the necessity of a robust analytical system. He announced that a specialized ‘District Domestic Product Portal’ will soon be developed to monitor district-level economic activities. This portal will utilize scientific data collection and analysis for primary sectors like agriculture, animal husbandry, dairy, and mining. He also reiterated that Rajasthan stands as a national leader in renewable energy, paving the way for a sustainable green economy.

Conclusion

The deliberations between NITI Aayog and top state officials signal that Rajasthan is pivoting toward data-driven policy formulation and localized micro-planning. Under the leadership of CM Bhajanlal Sharma, empowering local industries and accelerating investment promotion are setting the state on a fast track toward becoming a fully developed economy. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary V. Srinivas and other senior officials, while Divisional Commissioners and District Collectors joined the session via video conferencing (VC).

Chief Secretary Directs Swift Resolution of Investor Issues During Review Meeting

A high-level review meeting was held on Tuesday at the Secretariat Conference Hall, chaired by the Chief Secretary, to monitor the progress of Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) signed under the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit. The session focused on the department-wise implementation of these agreements to ensure they transition from paper to reality.

Strict Directives for Timely Resolution

During the detailed observation of investment projects, the Chief Secretary instructed all concerned departments to ensure that pending cases are resolved in a time-bound manner. Key directives included:

Investor-Friendly Environment: Reaffirming the state government’s commitment to maintaining a transparent, easy, and investor-friendly climate in Rajasthan.

Clearing Bottlenecks: Prioritizing the immediate disposal of cases related to land conversion, lease allotment, layout approval, and No Objection Certificates (NOCs).

Constant Communication: Maintaining regular dialogue with investors to keep them updated on the real-time status of their applications.

Inter-Departmental Coordination: Ensuring that projects requiring multi-departmental approvals are handled through mutual cooperation rather than working in silos.

Focus on 33 Major Investment Proposals

The meeting scrutinized the progress of 33 specific investment proposals across diverse sectors, including:

Tourism, Education, and Energy.

Industry, Medical & Health.

Urban Development & Housing (UDH) and Local Self-Government.

Sports and Youth Affairs.

District-Level Monitoring

Additional Chief Secretary (Industry), Mr. Shikhar Agrawal, reported positive progress across various proposals. To address local-level hurdles, reviews were conducted via Video Conferencing with District Collectors from Jaisalmer, Banswara, Rajsamand, Bhilwara, and Chittorgarh, as well as Commissioners from the Jodhpur and Bikaner Development Authorities. Officials were provided with necessary guidelines to expedite the grounding of these investments.

Impact on Economic Growth and Employment

The Chief Secretary emphasized that these MOUs are the cornerstone of the state’s economic future. The successful implementation of these projects is expected to:

Create Jobs: Generate countless new employment opportunities for the local youth.

Boost Local Industry: Provide a significant impetus to indigenous businesses and supply chains.

Strengthen Economy: Solidify Rajasthan’s position as a robust economic powerhouse.

Conclusion

The proactive stance taken by the Chief Secretary signals that the Rajasthan government is moving beyond signing agreements and focusing heavily on execution. By removing administrative hurdles, the state aims to fulfill the promises made during the Rising Rajasthan Summit, transforming the industrial landscape of the region.
