Under the “Sahkar Se Samridhi” (Prosperity through Cooperation) campaign, Rajasthan has secured the top rank in India for the effective implementation of the world’s largest grain storage scheme in the cooperative sector. On Tuesday, a high-level delegation from the Government of Uttar Pradesh arrived in Jaipur to study Rajasthan’s successful “Financial and Monitoring Model.”

3 Key Strengths of the Rajasthan Model

Dr. Samit Sharma, Secretary and Registrar of the Cooperative Department, highlighted the three pillars of Rajasthan’s operational success to the visiting delegation:

1. Minimal Construction Cost: Warehouses in Rajasthan are built directly through cooperative societies, eliminating middleman commissions and agency fees. While costs are higher in other states, Rajasthan produces high-quality warehouses at just ₹4,000 to ₹5,500 per metric ton.
2. India’s Only 100% Subsidy State: Rajasthan is the only state in the country providing a 100% subsidy of ₹25 lakh for warehouse construction.
3. Strict Standards and SOPs: All construction follows the rigorous standards set by the WDRA (Warehouse Development and Regulatory Authority). The department has also issued a detailed Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for renting these facilities out commercially.

Storage Capacity Goal: 1.25 Lakh Metric Tons

UP Delegation Conducts Field Visits

The Uttar Pradesh delegation—including Chief Engineer Mr. Parikshit Tripathi and FCI Assistant General Manager Mr. Prateek K. Sharma—did not limit their study to paperwork. They conducted field visits to inspect both completed and ongoing construction sites, praising the technical and administrative frameworks in place.
