JAIPUR: In a major push toward boosting clean energy and empowering farmers as active solar energy producers (Urjadata), the Government of India has approved a substantial Central Financial Assistance (CFA) package. Under ‘Component-C’ of the PM-KUSUM scheme, a financial aid of ₹531 crore has been greenlit for 553 solar power producers across Rajasthan.

The approved subsidy will be directly credited to the bank accounts of the respective solar producers through the Ajmer and Jodhpur electricity distribution companies (Discoms) shortly. This milestone initiative is set to enhance rural energy security while substantially multiplying farmers’ income streams.

Discom-Wise Financial Breakdown

The Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has allocated the newly sanctioned subsidy between the two primary state discoms as follows:

Jodhpur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (JdVVNL): A total assistance of ₹379.41 crore has been approved for 432 solar producers who successfully set up solar plants with a combined capacity of 429 MW.

Ajmer Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (AVVNL): Financial aid worth ₹151.21 crore has been sanctioned for 121 solar power developers who commissioned plants with a collective capacity of 169 MW.

Exemplary Efficiency: ₹1,012 Crore Worth of Claims Processed

Rajasthan’s power distribution companies (Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Ajmer Discoms) are working proactively to ensure that local solar producers encounter zero administrative hurdles when processing their subsidies. Due to streamlined claim submissions, the flow of central funds into the state has remained exceptionally consistent.

To date, total subsidy claims worth ₹1,012 crore have been successfully processed and submitted to the Central Ministry.

Out of these submissions, the Government of India has already disbursed ₹670 crore in direct assistance to 720 solar power producers across the state.

Understanding ‘Component-C’ of the PM-KUSUM Scheme

Component-C of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) focuses on the solarization of agricultural feeders. It presents an innovative model for turning barren or non-arable lands into regular revenue-generating assets for the farming community.

Project Scale: Decentralized grid-connected solar power plants with capacities up to 5 MW can be developed on lands situated within a 5-kilometer radius of local electricity sub-stations.

Substantial Subsidy Support: The Central Government offers financial assistance of up to 30% of the total plant cost based on its overall generation capacity, facilitating complete solarization of dedicated agricultural power feeders.

Cap on Aid: The maximum financial grant under this framework is capped at ₹1.05 crore per megawatt.

Rajasthan Secures 3rd Spot Nationally in Solar Feeder Component

Rajasthan continues to establish new benchmarks in India’s green energy landscape. Under Component-C of the scheme, the state has already deployed 1,312 distinct solar projects boasting an impressive aggregate capacity of 3,371 MW.

The distribution of this operational capacity across state discoms includes:

Jodhpur Discom: 2,647 MW

Ajmer Discom: 373 MW

Jaipur Discom: 352 MW

With these figures, Rajasthan firmly holds the third position across the nation in the implementation and scaling of this sustainable agricultural solar infrastructure.
